So the Long Covid theory ? Discuss

Was that a theory??

He wasn't even one of the players with Covid was he?

I could swear that when the outbreak happened, Smith made a comment to the effect of "It's tough on Ross too, he's been injured at home in London and has just come back from injury but isn't able to train because of the outbreak."

I’m sure someone said they had heard it in the one of the Villa podcasts - I’m not completely sure though hence I added theory as I could be wrong ... Wither way the crux of it is, he hasn’t done enough to earn a move regardless and we move on.

I don't see the need for all the insults. He was a loan so no big fee or long contract involved. He won us some points earlier in the season then it's all gone downhill for whatever reason. He's obviously pissed off with himself too. It didn't work out and he won't be around here next season, no biggie.

One things for sure, someone will take a punt on him next season

Those few seconds on the bench though, I did feel for him, whatever the reason it isn't happening for him it seems as though he will go down as another who never lived up to the hype

I thought we were getting a potential superstar when he signed, shows how much I know.

Lampard will take him to Palace if he gets the job, apparently he was unhappy with the Chelsea chief when she accepted our loan request

Ideal if lampard rocks up at palace we get rid of another london team

If he's not fit to play, he doesn't play. Covid is an illness, he isn't ill, he is unfit for premier league football.

There are no excuses, long covid ? Wouldn't be training let alone being in the squad on match day.

Think that rules out any covid nonsense rumours. They all also wear monitoring aids which will show oxygen output heart rate and so on, again they wouldn't be picked if they were showing as Ill.

Face it, he just can't be bothered.

Erm.... you do know long Covid isn’t the same as the initial contagious part of Covid right?

Long Covid is essentially an auto-immune disease. Auto-immune diseases are a bitch to diagnosed, get treatment for etc.

Not saying Barkley has it but none of your points in your post would rule out long Covid is all I’m saying.

We have the best private medical cover around. The players every day are monitored physically.

If his is ill the tests monitoring and even just the management would see in his day to day interactions and training.

He is clearly a no contact specialist. Looks good in training but when it's a real game, has lost any kind of bottle.

It was so obvious last night when he was subbed that he knew he was finished here. Looked to me that he was almost in tears.

He can still offer something at a lower level probably, but his career is definitely on the downward slope.

It happens eventually to them all. C'est la vie.

Its  a shame.....but its a ruthless business and you have to stay on top of it....maybe the owners, were crying too, with what they have paid out.

perhaps, his wages will ease the pain.

This.

In the past we'd have signed this player permanently, and be left with the wages and no sell on fee when no-one else will touch them.
Be thankful that Drinkwater and Barkley have simply been returned to their rightful owner. We'll always have Leicester away and the 7-2, and for that I am grateful.

well with Grealish not starting vs Palace according to Deano, Ross is pretty much certain to start that game.

If Grealish starts against Spurs there is every chance Dean will bench El Ghazi and play Ross.

so two more games probably...

Really feel for him. He looked like he was in tears on the bench. Doesn't look like he's quite coming to grips with why he isn't performing to his previous levels. He's only 27 too, it must be hard to take that you've visibly declined so much. I know he's not our player, but the abuse from fans probably doesn't help either. The fans of his parent club probably can't wait to see the back of him either. His goal of making it back into the England squad for the Euros is also definitely not happening. It's just a shit cocktail with a shit cherry on top for him at the moment. That can't be good for the psyche.

I feel sorry for him. I have never got the desire to rip into him from fans on here.

I probably haven't really looked into this thoroughly but I don't see fans of other teams tearing into their players as much as we do unless they're Lescott-tier wasters. Maybe it's confirmation/recency bias but we seem pretty horrible.
