Ross Barkley

Actually thought he was better today than usual, but he has not taken the creative pressure off Grealish this season and that was his job. I actually wonder if he is just permanently injured now. Smith doesn't trust him to start clearly.

McGinn barely controls a ball all game, miss places passes all over the pitch runs around like a headless chicken, falls over a lot, like every game for the past 3 months.

mings sends another brain fart sliced back pass that should have cost us a goal; let’s Salah get in front of him for their goal.

ATA scored a worldie 30 yard rocket through a packed defence.

Barkley comes on finds space (all the time), sends a lovely penetrating pass to AEG with one touch; takes the ball on but fails to get a shot away (just like Watkins earlier in the game?) fails to score due to indecisiveness and suddenly he is the reason we lost.

Re watch the game, this scapegoating is utterly ridiculous, actually try and think what the problem is, it’s not Barkley.

Birkleys useless mess up directly resulted in them literally going straight up the other end and scoring.

Even kicking it out would have been better than what he did or should I say, didn't do.

Doesn't matter how good the goal was, we had a chance to attack and yet again its totally collapsed due to birkley slowing everything down thinking he can emulate grealish. Then to let them walk away with the ball while just standing there ? Brilliant.

Multiply that scenario 5 or 6 times per game when he starts and you have a fair summary of what he has brought to the team in 80% of games he has played in.

No challenges, no headers, no shots, no key passes no running no closing down. Nothing. Literally nothing. So highlighting what you say is 1 good pass in 35 minutes of football and thinking that 1 good pass being the total effort in a game isn't worthy of harsh criticism then your expectations must be none existent.

Mings brain fart ? Yep and everyone's annoyed at that, but then look at the rest of the game. Did he put in any effort ? Was he detrimental to the entire team ? Did he waste a position ?

Mcginn, many times today carried the ball, won the ball and passed it to our own players. Is he playing to last year's standards ? No, but does he bring anything useful to the team ? Does he close players down ? Does he win the ball ?

Traore was utter dirt today and should not have started the 2nd half. He is a 1 in 5 at best player. Today after 5 minutes it was clear he was going to be useless, his body language and refusal to chase down anything not played to him within a foot was an embarrassment. But birkley is worse because at least traore will try and shoot and sometimes passes the ball to another player on his team.

We are not good enough to have 2 lazy players who do little for the team in the first team.

Both should not be in the first 11, birkley shouldn't be near the first team squad on his form over the last 3 months.

It's a team game, players like watkins busting his balls all game long, how do you think players like that feel when birkley receives the ball, slows down ALL attacking play and then gives the ball away when other players work so hard getting the ball into attacking positions.

Felt McGinn was awful today, gave away possession so many times and gave nothing that improved any aspects of our play.

He's not injured I don't think but clearly not fit either. It's the classic, needs a run of games to get his match sharpness but isn't playing well enough to start in the side. Someone will take a punt on him in the summer and he'll get another chance to prove himself again next year. Hopefully it's not us.

It’s absolutely bizarre what’s happened to him this season. Up until his injury he was class. Since he has looked like a different person! Twin brother?

He wasn’t class.  He was good.

"past 3 months"...

Try 12 months, @thunderball you really nailed it. McGinn is pish as they'd say in Scotland and completely ineffective.

Yep, looked fantastic and was hoping we would try and snap him up. However that was over a short period. The longer period he has been total gash. Even trez can make a quality pass once in a while (for watkins header v Liverpool I think) ironically it was dross birkley with a quick feeling over the top for trez.

It's like luiz but the opposite, was dirt until first lockdown but came back a worldy ( although has since gone backwards but still not as bad as the first 23rds of last season).

Like a broken record. I dont see why he is featuring, even if Ross himself came out and said I'm not going to offer anything right now. But he shouldn't have to make that call the coaches can clearly see he isnt right. Was like Newcastle away today, he was through on goal in the last minute and the next minute we throw away points.

Rubbish. Another very angry post defeat outburst.

As our wingers are so shit, could Barkley play the Grealish role out wide on the left? A bit of freedom to try to make things happen.

I wouldn't want him in the CM position again.

Our wingers are shit, the problem with your argument is that Barkley is shitter.  I don’t know whether it is confidence, underlying injury, attitude or just pure laziness but he looks so far off the pace of the game it’s scary.

When he was one on one with their CB I for someone reason expected the net to bulge I really need to stop living in hope. Such a shame as I was genuinely excited by signing Barkley. However we can't underestimate the impact he would have had in training. A gifted footballer who is even more inconsistent and unfortunately is going to see his career fizzle away.

Because you dont agree with it ? Paha

Open your eyes, the player we signed and played well for 4 games has become a total liability.

You keep clutching to the hope 1 pass in a game becomes a good one.

He definitely is shitter at the moment, but it might bring out the player that we saw at the start of the season. Possibly not, but it's an option.

My main concern though is that he knows we aren't signing him so can't be bothered.
