How much was that Kepa bloke that went to Chelsea, I've not got Villa goggles on but he aint nowhere near as good as Emi. Spurs can do.one, they ain't gonna win owt anyway

Exactly. He was 70m. Alisson was 60 I think.

Martinez is not as good as Alisson, but at the moment his reputation is at that level. There’s no reason if we sold him that the fee shouldn’t exceed both of those fees

Said it before but I get the impression he cares far more about his international career than club career. As long as he's starring for Argentina, I don't think winning silverware at club level is his top priority.

Chelsea and United both need keepers so perhaps they would pay the sums we would ask for. Only time will tell.

I think we’ll get another season out him at least.

I guess another positive is that, keepers have a longer career life in general than outfield players.

He could probably leave ar 32, 33 or 34 and still be in his relative " prime "

Longer but they are not getting better in age like they used to. Except Neuer most of the world class keepers are 30 are under. Courtois,Ter Stegen, Allisson, Maignan, Donnarumma etc.

Of the starting keepers in the league only Lloris, De Gea, Guaita, Navas and Fabianski are over 30 and I havent seen Navas this season but the other four are average or in Lloris case just shit

Not sure that's true; just to keep it Villa: Brad Friedel was as brilliant well into his thirties as he was in his youth.

This is a fair point. Also for comparisons of transfer fee’s with Alisson and Kepa you have to remember they were both around 5 years younger at the time.

On the hand hand Emi hasn’t really played much football at all until he joined us. I think he will be one of those that will stay at a top level well in to his 30s.

Still think his kicking isn’t good enough for one of the big boys though and how they like to play.

The timing of this is too coincidental and pretty much confirms that Emi Martinez's WC antics are the reason why they're changing the rules...  Absolutely ridiculous when the taker can stop in their run up, do stutter steps, take a very slow run up Pogba stye, etc. to try to psych the keeper out.  I mean, why even have the goalkeeper in the net at this point if the taker needs the deck stacked even further in their favor.

Yep totally ridiculous he did not even do anything that bad really.

Sore losers complaining.

Has to work both ways as you say takers need to have continuous action no stutter.

In fact make it like 5 a side 2 steps.

The whole mind games makes it great viewing you cannot weight it in favour of one or the other so just leave it as is.

Our man was too hot; the authorities couldn't handle him.

Ye let’s take away any psychological aspects to the game, while their at might as well ask the crowd to be quiet when the players are taking penalties like a snooker match.

probably for the rules thread but some keepers are furious about this change. Fair enough too as the taker can dance like Jorginho/Bruno and nothing happens

Conceded one goal in his last 6 games for club and country, a penalty v west ham.

Hang on, he’s not supposed to let penalties in! Maybe they didn’t need to change the rules after all.

He's surprisingly saved very few penalties for us, can only recall v Sheff United on his debut but perhaps there's another I can't recall.

Mind you most of them tend to go in the corners against him like Benrahama last time.

He didn’t save the Fernandez one but definitely got in to his head. I think he saved a couple that were put in as rebounds too.
