Pass the ball around the back, draw them out (never works) hit the channels, hit them out wide, run quick. Horrific. He did seem to then go more central but there didn't seem to be any proper formation by then. Mason Mount seemed to have been pushed back to DM at that point. The bitterness stems from Southgate saying Jack couldn't play until he was proven at PL level, but that's not Phillips's fault. I do struggle to understand why we need 2 or 3 DMs against such mismatched opposition. What is Southgate even thinking there? You wouldn't do that at any level of football.
