You say that, but I'm certain that having Neil Taylor on the bench is a disaster waiting to happen.

At the start of the window I’d have bitten your arm off for Benny, Watkins and Buendia. Much as I want  Rashica to happen the thought of Benrahma on the left doesn’t fill me with dread.

Edit: but I don’t think we will get Henry out of Brentford either way.

Didn't he blatantly say "Thomas Frank has said there will be no more players sold"? Or was that just poker?

He did but the smirk and lip biting indicated there was a lot more to it.

I don't quite understand why some on here talk this guy up. Rico Henry is currently a slightly above average championship defender based on statistics. He isn't good enough for the Premier league at the moment and I think he needs another year in the championship to step his game up. Henry performed considerably worse than Cash ,who should be the benchmark for lower league full backs looking to make the jump to the PL.

Now that we've completed the signing of Bertrand Traore as a right sided winger and possible CF cover, I hope that we will sign Benrahma to add to the left and centre of our attack.

I know Rashica is a big favourite on this board and deservedly so, but my reasons for preferring Benrahma at this moment in time are as follows.

Benrahma is settled in to the "English game" and is confident enough in his own ability to hit the ground running (would Rashica be up to pace as quickly?). Given that it is unlikely that Hourihane will feature much, we absolutely need a set piece taker par excellence to replace Conor as we're likely to be awarded even more free kicks with Jack, Ollie, Bertrand and Said playing around the box together. Benrahma is one of the best free kick specialists around. Despite the "selfish" tag that is sometimes applied to him, if you watch him play repeatedly over 90 minutes as I have you would see that he is really generous with repeated service to the players he links up with. He is also a serial goal scorer and assister, which would add a few more points to our total at the end of the season. With the goals and assists that Ollie (and to a lesser extent Bertie) will almost certainly add, we should finish safely in the Premier (12th to 14th?) this season.

We can then plan to add 2/3 real quality players next summer after an improved season, and hopefully with the benefit of a more positive "TV" image which will attract better players.

I'd rather bid for Benrahma before he goes off to Palace rather than wait for Rashica who obviously is waiting for a better offer.

I disagree.

I think Benrahma might have been here by now, we've had 3 windows to sign him.

I would say it's club(s) rather than player in the latter of your post.

I respectfully disagree. Rashica definitely has the higher ceiling and is of a higher standard now. The Bundesliga is pretty close to the premier league in standard. So the jump from the Bundesliga to the Premier isn't as much as the jump from Championship.

Every signing is a risk but I believe that Rashica will be a success for us. I don't think BenRahama has the pace to be as good as Rashica.

Love watching him in championship and last season I was all for us to get him , not as much this season

I think he looks very much like an El Ghazi type player , if things are going well and we are dominating a game he looks incredible and one of best players on pitch.

My fear is if we are chasing a game with little possession he will go missing similar to El Ghazi.

I agree.

I think Rashica offers more for money when comparing the two.

Benrahma is good, but he's not Rashica good.

Benrahma is fantastic.

If you let him play he'll kill you. It's if he could do it in the quicker, tougher PL.

Very similar style of player to Mahrez who showed it can be done.

I'd prefer Rashica as he's quicker and more direct, we lack that in our side.

I'd have Benrahma at a similar level though.

I think if you play on the wing, you have to get away from players, not massage the ball.

pace is a crucial element of a good  winger, not everything but an important ingredient....Harvey Barnes types create havoc....I think Rashica looks similar, for what I have seen.

i find the funny thing with el ghazi, is he has the speed, but weirdly has the 80s/90s drawbacks of an old english winger, by that i mean they put their head down and just run in a straight line, even if it means they run in to a brick wall.

I find that even more strange, considering he spent so long at Ajax.....you dont attribute blinkered running in a straight line to ajax youth products.

Ghazi has the straight line speed, but not the brains to go with it i think, or the ability to make something from his running (most of the time), such a pity. (he's also not a worker.......lets the game come to him rather than making things happen).

anyway.......not the ghazi thread :))

Fulham need him more than us and maybe West ham, just not sure they will pay £30m.

Brentford have to be admired in the way they have played their hand, perfect, there was always going to be teams who would need to buy in a panic once the season kicked off.  Quality player, Smith's knows his worth and it ain't £30m.
