Personally I'm thinking we need around 8 or 9 players. 1 striker (preferably can play out wide), 1 RW, 1 CAM/LW (Depending on where grealish plays), 1 Backup Winger/Striker, 1 CDM, 1 Keeper, 1 E Experienced CB, 1 LB.

6-7 for me - if we do have £100m as has been reported then we should be looking at getting 4 quality players with that money and augment the rest of the squad with some decent loans or free agents.

Imo we need 4 critical players:

1 x MC

2 x wingers

1 x striker

All need to be quality, this isn't the window for development purchases, its a window for signalling intent.

Nice to have's (if any spare money)

1 x MC (this could be a development player)

1 x GK (if Heaton isnt fit for season start)

1 x LB or RB (to challenge Targett or Guilbert)

Voted 6 to 7

3 or 4 first team starters and 2 or 3 top or highly rated younger players that are too good for our under 23 academy.

Musts are

Centre forward

Right winger

Left sided  central midfielder

Ideally another defender but with a stronger midfield without grealish being in the central 3 our defence is more solid anyway but it engels is not going to be played a right footed cb

I think another striker, winger who can play across all the front, an attacking midfielder of real quality (break the bank big boy Owners), and a CB just in case of Injurys.
