useless
I notice Kerr Smith has started the last two games for Dundee United, not sure if he would give up first team football with them to play for our U23s. A connection he does have with us is that his current manager is Micky Mellon, and he and Adam Henshall worked together at Shrewsbury and Henshall has since stated that he had a good working relationship with Mellon. Maybe we could sign him and send him back on loan.
useless
Sounds like we've given Bristol Rovers a decent sum for Kyrie Pierre, this is from their official site... Academy player Kyrie Pierre has joined Aston Villa for a record fee received by the Academy for a player. The U16's playmaker has linked up with the Premier League side after impressing Villa's scouts in fixtures for the Rovers Academy sides. The undisclosed fee involved is a record payment received by the Academy for a youth player and will allow the setup to continue to develop and produce the next generation of players in the years to come. Speaking about the deal, Academy Manager Chris Hargreaves said, "‘Kyrie is a fantastic young man and a very capable player and everyone at the Academy is delighted for him to be joining such a historic football club. "Having spoken to Mark Harrison (Academy Manager) at Aston Villa, we wanted to allow Kyrie and his family the opportunity to speak to the club. "Both Mark and I have built a good relationship and look forward to working together over the coming years. "The move works for all parties, primarily of course for the player and his family, and also for the Academy and Bristol Rovers Football Club. "This is a record fee for our Academy and means that the Academy can look to become more sustainable and fit the brief of producing high-quality players that can play in our first team, whilst being realistic that in a competitive market place, players may have the opportunity to develop at Premier League clubs. "It is all about the player in these situations and we wish Kyrie and his family the best of luck going forward and we will be keeping a keen eye on his progression."
Delphinho123
Love that we’re spending big money on the academy and these 16/17yr old talents. If only a couple break through, it will have done its job. Great to see.

useless
According to the Athletic it's believed we've signed thirty players at the various levels of the academy over the last twelve months. 2
Villaphan04
The other thing that I really like is that with this one (and the Chrisene from Exeter) that the other club has stated we've been fair, professional, and not being 'cheap' when it comes to signing these kids for the academy. Helps us keep building relationships with other clubs academies and knowing that we will be good partner to sell to without trying to buy on the cheap. We're finally being run super professionally.

Popular Post useless
Interesting article on Kyrie Pierre in the Bristol Post... Another with links to West Brom it seems... "They’ve got that same energy on the pitch, which is infectious, and a belief they can go and do it." That's just Bristol Rovers academy manager Chris Hargreaves comparing young Kyrie Pierre, signed by Aston Villa for a fee in excess of £200,000 this week, with Villa and England star Ollie Watkins. Hargreaves would know, having worked closely with Watkins – who has 14 goals to his name in his maiden Premier League campaign – for several years at Exeter City. Talk about a big prediction, weighted with the inherent pressures of being snapped up for such a massive amount of money for a 15-year-old. But the feeling is Pierre – from Fishponds – is built to handle that pressure. While he may be sleight, he is, Hargreaves says, a humble and robust young man who has stood out through the age groups at Rovers and will not just cope with the level of expectation bestowed on him this week when his club-record move was made official, but thrive. "I can’t speak highly enough of him," Hargreaves said. "He’s got humility off the field and he’s calm, which is a trait that a lot of clubs are looking for in a player. He doesn’t get too carried away, doesn’t get too low." Rovers, while playing a massive role in his development, cannot take all the credit. Pierre started at Keynsham Town as a young boy before spending a brief speell with the Bristol branch of West Bromwich Albion's development centre. Pierre is a gifted athlete, excelling in all school sports and habitually playing above his age group at Rovers since he made the move to the Gas as a nine-year-old. But Hargreaves, and Pierre's mum Hannah King, are eager to stress that, above all else, Villa have bought into a good person. "Kyrie is an outstanding kid," she said. "We’re a family which fosters children and he even gave up his bedroom so we could take on another sibling child. He stays with his nan most of the time. He's a caring, all-round amazing kid with a really good heart. "We've had kids from all walks of life, including asylum-seeking children, and Kyrie has helped to show them the ropes of life in Bristol. "He’s always worked really hard. Football is his life and he’s very dedicated. He’s not out with his friends, if he’s not playing football he’s at home with his family. "It’s an amazing opportunity and he just wants to give it his best." With talent coupled with such high character, it is no wonder Villa – plus three other Premier League clubs – we're keen. And the boy is very talented. Pierre is expected to sign professional terms when he turns 17, as part of Villa's intensifying focus on acquiring the best young talent around, signing 30 players across all age groups in the past 12 months. Before the deal was announced, Pierre spent a settling-in period with Villa and, they like what they see. "He’s been going up there for the past eight weeks and he’s made a really good impression with all the coaches," his mum said. "Everyone seems to think he’s got something special and there is potential there. Now it’s about him putting his head down and working hard, and we will see where it leads him. "He's prepared, ready and very mature." "I hope he’s going to play at the top, that’s the idea," Hargreaves added. "He has shown enough in the first few weeks with them. I spoke to Mark Harrison (Villa academy manager) recently and he said it’s like he’s been with them for six months, which is not a bad sign. "He’s already scored against Chelsea for the 18s and was due to play at Old Trafford against United before it was called off. "He’s fitted in well and truly there and in the chats we’ve had I’ve said ‘Go and believe you can play at the top’. Why shouldn’t he? Someone’s got to go and do it. "I likened him to Ollie Watkins. I worked with Ollie for four years at Exeter, and I see similarities with Ollie and Kyrie. They’ve got that same energy on the pitch, which is infectious, and a belief they can go and do it." Pierre's attention has turned to bigger and better things, but his family are grateful for football education he has received and say he is "proud" to have grown up at Rovers. "Bristol Rovers have been amazing and, since Chris has been at the academy, I can't thank him enough for his direction and guidance," King said. "He's more like a father figure than just an academy manager. He puts his heart and soul into it for all the boys, it's not just a job for him. "He will push any child to their full potential and he's been so good with the families." Villa have a rich history of promoting academy talent, with England star Jack Grealish a source of inspiration for Pierre. Rovers, too, have pushed talent along the pathway and into the first team, and Hargreaves expects that to continue. Some may be frustrated to see such a fine homegrown talent leave without playing for the club as an adult, but Hargreaves believes it would be wrong to deny any player this life-changing opportunity. He said: "Our aim is to do two things: be sustainable as an academy, and get players in our first team. "If a club is interested in an academy player, it’s our responsibility to inform the parents there is interest and that can develop if the family feels it’s right for the player. It’s with our goodwill and best wishes, it’s nothing to do with financial gain. It’s all about the player in that instance. "If we can help nurture a player who goes on to play at the top and we can get players into our first-team, that’s fantastic. "This season, Alfie (Kilgour) has probably played 45 games, has captained the team, so that’s another captain the academy has produced. "Jed (Ward) has made his debut, Zain Walker has been in and around it, and Kyrie has signed for Aston Villa. For me, that is a successful season for the academy and a model that we can do both." Soon, Rovers will be handing out scholarships to players building towards a professional career, and the academy manager is hopeful more talent will emerge and burst into Joey Barton's first-team squad. "I watched a game recently of the 16s who are going into scholars next year, and it was very impressive, so we’ve got a really strong group of players signing for next season and I’m really hopeful that they can progress and get in that team."
Popular Post useless
Aston Villa have signed a second Bristol Rovers prospect in the space of a week, bringing in 13-year-old Bradley Burrowes to their own academy. Burrowes, a two-footed, tricky and explosive winger who can play on either flank, has been with the Gas since he was eight and follows 15-year-old Fishponds talent Kyrie Pierre in swapping north Bristol for Birmingham. Popular Post useless
Aston Villa is proud to announce a new partnership with the Birmingham Primary Schools Football Association (BPSFA). The club has become the principal sponsor of the BPSFA and will provide financial support that contributes to facilities and kit costs, CPD opportunities for young coaches and teachers and access to the club’s training facilities for finals and tournaments. The partnership will provide increased opportunities for Villa Academy staff to scout and coach players from across the city’s seven districts, which covers over 300 primary schools. Scott Curry, Player Talent ID Project and Development Manager at Villa, believes the link will strengthen both the club’s junior recruitment and the standard of football across the city. He said: “We are extremely proud to be the principal sponsor of the Birmingham Primary Schools Football Association. “Aston Villa has a proud history of discovering local young footballers and providing them with an environment which allows them to develop and succeed. The ongoing partnership with BPSFA will further enhance our ability to unearth local future first team footballers for both the men’s and women’s team. “The BPSFA have an excellent history of providing opportunities to local boys and girls from all social backgrounds to play football, have fun and make friends. “We are looking forward to supporting this experience and working with Phil Hynam and his team of teachers and coaches to do everything we can to develop district football in Birmingham.” Phil Hynan from the BPSFA said: “Despite a history that dates back over 120 years, this new partnership with Aston Villa FC represents something unique both regionally and nationally in terms of schools' football. “In terms of district football, Villa's support enables Birmingham Primary Schools FA to provide primary aged footballers of Birmingham with outstanding facilities, quality coaching and the highest standard of play outside of academy football for free. “Villa's support means no child of Birmingham will be priced out of playing district football and representing their school and community on the national stage.” As part of the partnership, a member of the club’s staff will be in attendance at every district game, including the upcoming trials for the 2021/22 season. useless
Apparently Filip Marschall is currently at a training camp with the Poland U18 team, he was also part of the recent England U18 squad and has represented England at younger age groups as well. Arsenal's Hubert Graczyk also a goalkeeper and who has also recently played for England U18s is also there as well.
useless
Travis Patterson also with England U16s. Seems an interseting player, played on the right wing against Arsenal, and in the last two games played at left-back, he's also played left-back, central midfield and on the wing for England. I think he could be another one that advances to the U23s very quickly, he's already made the bench and doesn't turn sixteen until October.
