I think Shakpoke must have picked up an injury.

With him and Abldeen-Goodridge out the U18s are missing two players who were presumably expected to play a big part this season, so will be a boost for our attack when they return. Shakpoke will probably have to be eased in though, after the Premier League Cup game he put on his instagram that it was his first full 90 minutes in a year, so will probably be lacking match fitness to begin with.

Was the second round of the Premier League Cup this week, we played Derby County, can't find confirmation of the score but according to someone on twitter we won 3-0.

Wolves beat Albion 5-1 in the other game in our group.

Not sure what the deal with is with us and keeping scores a secret, ours in the only result in the second round of the premier league cup that's unkown, and the only reason we know the score from the first round of matches is because one of the players put it on their instagram. Other clubs have clubs have been updating through  their official channels, like twitter and club website.

Same with the England youth teams playing a bunch of frienlies against club sides in the international break, ours was the only one where the result was never published.

We act like we're ashamed of them.

A good portion of the comments when we do post something could be why

Are we the only club with some idiot fans? This idea that we don't show anything to do with kids for safeguarding reasons has been offered before, but other Premier League clubs don't act in the same way, so either we're uniquely attentive to safeguarding, cyber-bullying and whatever else, or that isn't the real reason.

Of course, most of the U23 team are also adults as well.

It's a safeguarding disaster anyway - there are hundreds of Villa fans who get their information on the U23 and U18 teams by following individual players on Instagram. If I want to know how our players are playing,, I also end up finding out what their girlfriends look like, what cars they drive, what they listen to and whereabouts they live, some of those players are 16 and 17 - it's horrific from a safeguarding point of view - but it's the only way to get news on some of these platers.

We had a home U23 game yesterday and our entire output was three tweets - here are the teams, half time and full time. Other clubs are providing free live TV coverage and those that aren't are tweeting match coverages - we have a match centre on official website, but whether or not it operates for U23 games is an entirely random thing and considering the amount of money we're investing in getting this right, it's almost bizarre.

We're spending a lot of money producing exciting youth teams and then we're hiding them.
