We as fans need to be patient. Unfortunately a large part of our fan base isn’t or even understands the need to let players develop. Look at Luiz as a prime example. Liverpool built their Champs League team and PL winning team from Selling Suarez and Coutinho for example I expect that the idea with Lange is identify players from lower leagues than can make step up and remove the Copenhagen stepping stone.I can also see us buying players with potential and loaning them out like Chelsea have done. Then they come back good enough for us or they are sold for profit.
bannedfromHandV
We need to build but if FFP is to hang around we need to do so in a sustainable fashion. We have a chance at keeping Grealish because he’s a villa fan but we won’t have that luxury with others, yes we need to build a good team but we can’t just throw £500M at it and hope it works out, it needs to be planned.

Why would you just look at his last 10 games stats rather than the rest of his career? He has scored at a bit under a goal every other game which indicates to me he is indeed a 'striker'. useless
Just because he's come from a club that that brought in players with the express purpose of selling them on for a profit doesn't mean to say he's coming here to do the samething, we'll just want him to find us good players, if they become so very good that it's hard to keep them then they might leave for a profit but I don't think that will be the primiary reason that we're bringing in this guy.
Popular Post villa4europe
I think its important to realise that some of these top young talents will only sign if we offer them the chance to be flipped at a profit or include buy out clauses etc if we go for Szoboszlai from Salzburg, one of the highest rated midfield talents in Europe, 19 years old, say £25m, he's only joining us at a massive stretch if he thinks that at 21/22 years old we're moving him on for the £50m+ player that he should become do you want to play for us for 2 years be really good and then move to man city is an easier sales pitch than do you want to play for villa for 10 years, that's the reality of football and where we are right now and with that said I hope he does bring in a big name wonderkid even if I know full well that he wont be here forever

Do you think buying players for 800k and selling them for 8m is going to work with the villa?. The whole thing smacks to me of turning us into a selling club like brentford...We need to be building a team to compete in europe not to sell them on in 12 months imo Weird take. Can appreciate people being cautious but I do not understand this mentality. There is absolutely nothing to suggest we will be buying players for 800k and trying to sell them for 8m. If anything, we would be trying to take it to a different level. Signing £15-30m players and selling them for £60m. Obviously this is pure speculation too, but it seems more likely than your take on the situation imo. The proof will be in the pudding, but fundamentally buy low and sell high is a sound philosophy for any club. That philosophy scales and Brentford's structure of doing it isn't the only structure. Luckily the transfer window is open now so it won't be long until we find out. Edited July 30, 2020 by PieFacE

KenjiOgiwara
I think the really good thing about this is how quickly he was appointed. It comes across like it's well planned, professional and that they're thinking long term for the club.
Popular Post TrentVilla Posted July 30, 2020 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted July 30, 2020 As I expected a swift appointment which clearly shows the decision to replace Suso wasn't made this week or as a result of our survival this change has been planned. I'm very much of the opinion we need someone in this role and clearly we needed someone in this role very quickly so I'm pleased with the announcement for those reasons. I can't claim to know too much about him or his track record so will be taking a look into that but its more about the working relationships than track records. I don't think Paddy Reilly did a bad job, I said that at the time but I think the balance in the club was all wrong as was the environment the players arrived in and the coaching department around them. I don't also think Suso did a terrible job in difficult circumstances but I have and previously and will always query why our scope seemed so limited. The most important thing with this appointment is balance and relationships between board, sporting director and manager. I think that balance was clearly out last summer, I think Smith himself would admit he needed to be stronger about what he wanted and needed so he will have learned from that and hopefully so will others. Having someone in this role is crucial but so is the relationship between the key men running the club, lets hope this appointment delivers the right result on and off the pitch.

Popular Post TrentVilla Posted July 30, 2020 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted July 30, 2020 Oh and just a thought - isn't FA Copenhagen the club that Wes Edens Fortress Fund was linked with investing in last year? Coincidence? A quick check and yes it was... The investment group founded by Aston Villa's co-owner Wes Edens has launched a bid to buy Danish club FC Copenhagen, according to reports. Fortress Investment Group is reported to be in talks with a Danish pension fund LD Fonde to buy its 29 per cent stake in Parken Sport & Entertainment, the events company which owns the club. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-owner-launches-bid-15649758 4

useless
It was Xia who was trying to buy Lyngby, Wyness even gave an interview where he was talking about building them a new stadium, a couple of months later we nearly went out of business, so not sure how we were going to manage that. Edens' was linked with buying Copenhagen in January of last year. Edited July 30, 2020 by useless
