villalad21
Although we are not playing this weekend i am looking forward to the games. Will be interesting to see where our potential relegation rivals stand in the start of the season.

There was some talk of him going to Villa & I think he might do better with you because Vardy will always be first choice here.

With all due respect there is only so much time left he can keep going. I'd be looking for a replacement very soon.

This season is about consolidating as a PL league team.....a season without dipping into the bottom three at any point would be progress. Couple more quality additions and we should really hope to kick on. Feel more confident about our defence this year with Konza settling in great alongside mings. Started as a slow transfer window but bubbling up quite nicely now

True but our owners are not investing large sums to battle relegation every year they will wanna see marked improvements. Smith won’t be allowed to have us languishing near the foot of the table either, think if we start badly Wes and Nas may act.

Demitri_C
Im still unsure about us defensively. Ok we improved towards the end but what about the ither 3/4 of the season? We generally were shocking defensively. I think as well if mings or konsa got injured hause engels are risky back up options

Southampton have invested well defensively and Che Adams had a great end to last season, along with a good 'pre-season'. I think Southampton could be pushing top half this year. Surviving for another season would still be great success. Would bite your hand off if you offered me 17th right now. People may laugh at that but listen to what Purslow said about our wage restrictions. The main thing is to stay in the league for the next couple of seasons. We can then start competing and offer average Premier League wages. This will be a slow rebuild. Finishing 12th with this squad would be overachieving. villa4europe
Not playing style obviously but I'd take being the most boring team this season - the first team that cant get europe but cant get relegated either If we can get there by about march and can play some youngsters then even better

nepal_villan
Everyone much more sober this year about where we might finish. Last season quite a few predicted mid-table or even better. Think we will finish 16th.
villalad21
Think we'll finish 17th again. Relegation battle will be between Fulham, West Brom, Villa, Brighton and Newcastle Palace will be fine because of their experience and West Ham have too strong of a squad.
