It's because of post game interviews where the camera is tight on the players face, I think manufacturers were bummed out that their logo was getting cut out of the picture so they have moved everything up by a couple of inches. It's definitely not just a Villa thing. It's definitely a Kappa thing though. Not exclusively, but they definitely seem to set the bar for how high they can place all the logos
Chindie Posted August 1, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted August 1, 2020 It's a decent shirt. I'm never a fan of the sleeve to collar look but it's the easiest option to differentiate Villa shirts season to season and it doesn't look too bad. Sponsor benefits from being simple and clean. I like the subtle pinstripe. My biggest issue is the colour. It looks more of a dirty red than a claret - it's most obvious when you compare the colour of the shirt to things like banners on the official site and it's obvious those aren't the same colour. But seemingly there's not a company on earth that can make a claret shirt.
alreadyexists Posted August 1, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted August 1, 2020 I’m glad it seems, from the pics, to be actually claret which is good. Better than the under armour purple

Popular Post Jareth Posted August 1, 2020 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 1, 2020 I hope that this kit is a sign of things to come - a no fuss, simple attempt that elicits no anger or joy - exactly what I want from a midtable finish next season. 1
The_Rev
@Chindie I think that's because everybody has a different idea of what claret is. To me claret is a dark shade of red, it absolutely does not skew towards purple like the 2018/19 kit did (and I think design wise that's my favourite Villa shirt ever, save for the sponsor) or the accents on the club website are.

Jas10
Pretty good, no complaints. Much improved on the previous home shirt. Seems to be inspired by the Luke strip a bit.
The_Steve
I like the subtlety of it. Glad there’s no gambling firm stinking it up. Do we know of the sleeve sponsor yet?

Although it could obviously never happen, that kit deserved to be worn a 2nd season. It's the best kit in my lifetime and the fact it didn't grace the prem is a real shame

It was Sutton Park so there were some quality freights coming through. I actually had a few epiphanies so left a yellow padlock on a fence as a reminder to myself that Sutton Park is magical. Villa then went on to pull off the great escape and I feel the Universe is telling me something . PS. Every day another human shows empathy is a Good Day. Thank you. PPS. My first MS design was the closest to the actual reveal BTW so 3rd Eye ITK confirmed.

Luke Roper has designed the Kidderminster Harrier's shirts this season, the away one is particularly good.

We should never have a Coventry-based sponsor. Strangely the Bill Cosby one got a few likes and he raped almost 100 women. If only Fred had a sitcom. Popular Post NurembergVillan Posted August 1, 2020 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted August 1, 2020 Quote Technical features of Pro kit: - The skin fit Kappa jersey offers a raglan sleeve. - The bicolored round neck collar and the insert on the sleeves and the sides bring dynamism to the overall silhouette, while a triangular cut has been affixed at the bottom of the sleeve as a final touch. - The jersey shows a sublimated contrasted stripe design. - Heat transfer Kappa logo and silicone badge club crest. - It is equipped with Kombat Pro System technology, using an ultra-resistant, elastic and breathable material, so dear to Kappa for more than 20 years. - The technology is materialised by a silicone patch at the bottom right of the jersey. - 9% Elasthane / 91% Polyester for the perfect mix dedicated to elite performance. https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2020/07/31/villa-home-kit-20-20-pl-announce Classic football marketing nonsense. I've taken the liberty of translating it into language the average fan will understand. Technical features of Pro kit:How we sold the idea of the player's version to the club. - The skin fit Kappa jersey offers a raglan sleeve. It's not round on the shoulder, the seams come all the way up into the collar (NV - these often make it easier for raising your arms when jumping or taking a throw-in) - The bicolored round neck collar and the insert on the sleeves and the sides bring dynamism to the overall silhouette, while a triangular cut has been affixed at the bottom of the sleeve as a final touch. The collar is like on a t-shirt and in two colours. There's a blue bit sewn into the sleeves and sides, a bit like a go-faster stripe on a car. Also, we've done the sewing on the cuff in the shape of triangle just because we fancied it. - The jersey shows a sublimated contrasted stripe design. It's got a slightly darker printed stripe. (NV - the infants one appears to be entirely printed, so it'll be white when you turn it inside out) - Heat transfer Kappa logo and silicone badge club crest. The Kappa logo is a "sticker", the badge is like a 3D plastic that is glued on. - It is equipped with Kombat Pro System technology, using an ultra-resistant, elastic and breathable material, so dear to Kappa for more than 20 years.Remember that fabric from that tight Italy shirt? It's like that. - The technology is materialised by a silicone patch at the bottom right of the jersey. There's another 3D plastic badge near the bottom of the shirt with "Pro" written on it. - 9% Elasthane / 91% Polyester for the perfect mix dedicated to elite performance.Very stretchy, with a bit of a plasticky feel. A bit like those tights the Mrs wears to the gym, but a lot thinner (the material, not the Mrs). 5 5
deeps
Nice kit. I always want our home kits to be simple. Hearing the away is black has me excited. I’m a sucker for a black strip.

To me claret has to skew towards a purple. The colour derives from the colour of the wine, which has to have that sumptuous, deep colour with the touch of purple tone to it. The 18/19 had it bang on. It's a difficult because it is a fairly subtle colour. It's all too easy to end up with some of the travesties we had in the late 90s/early 2000s which were just purple, or you end up with a slightly desaturated dirty red, which just looks wrong. Which this is to my eye.
