There is no vaccination so not sure how it makes him more likely to get it?

He’s a bit of a general conspiracy nut. He’s been going on about the whole thing being a scam for a while now and planed his own tennis tournament because the ATP had said it’s not safe for them to do so. Somewhat fitting that he’s now caught it.

10 Pakistan cricket playera have picked up Covid 19, also Novak Djokovic. I find it dubious more football players aren't

I don't mind Djokovic but he was really taking the mick with that tour. I would guess they all probably picked it out on the night out they had between matches.

Probably does make a mockery of trying to play French and US open later this year. 3-4 players testing positive and having to pull out of their matches would make a mockery of the draws.

Only 2 months to the Champions League final rounds in Lisbon...

Wonder what plan-B is?

Portugal restores curfew to tackle coronavirus spike in Lisbon

Some lockdown measures, including an 8pm curfew, are being reimposed in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon after a spike in new coronavirus cases.

Despite a relatively low coronavirus toll of 39,392 confirmed cases and 1,534 deaths in Portugal, the authorities are worried that several hundred new cases are being found every day in Greater Lisbon.

But the government maintains that the outbreaks are localised and traceable to particular workspaces and crowded neighbourhoods.

"The nucleus of the problem is centred in just 15 neighbourhoods ... we need a stronger effort in these areas," Prime Minister Antonio Costa told a news conference after meeting local council leaders in Lisbon.

In these areas, the limit on gatherings will be halved to just 10 people, and commercial spaces with the exception of restaurants will close by 8pm, Mr Costa said. Restaurants will no longer be allowed to serve drinks after the 8pm curfew, and drinking in public spaces outside of licensed esplanades will also be prohibited.

Danish Cup final was delayed 15 minutes as Aalborg fans wouldnt observe social distancing. Each team got 700 tickets but had to stay 1 meter apart but Aalborg ultras refused.

Fans were kicked out and they lost 😂

It ruins it for all the others doesn’t it. A small experiment and they behave like that.

So- when do you think we are allowed to watch football live?  A few weeks back Purslow  seemed quite bullish thinking at least some fans will be able to attend when the 20-21 kicks off in September. However Spain health ministry thinks it is unlikely for fans to be back in stadiums in September, and now the FA have arranged a closed doors friendly with Wales at Wembley in October.

I can't see full capacity matches in the top two divisions in England this calendar year.  They will have to reach a decision within the next month or so as clubs will be desperate to start selling season tickets again. Leagues one and two and non league may be more flexible as crowds are lower (well apart from Sunderland)  and public transport use for those teams are a lot less.

  • 4 weeks later...

Start of the French league has been postponed (by 1 day) due to 4 Marseille players who were due to face Saint Etienne on Friday testing positive for the virus.

2 games on Saturday who are scheduled to go ahead as planned

So money isn't an antidote for Covid after all.

More and more clubs will have staff affected by this until a proper vaccine is introduced but won't let that stand in the way of the football machine chugging along.

yeah my main issue with it coming back was that they were coming back way before anything else was back, the PL could play games but people couldn't see their family...that was madness

currently there is nothing stopping someone in the UK going to Austria on holiday for a week and then having to go back to work, Liverpool going there on pre season is no different

it has no real social implications or what's good for the goose style implications, they're in the same boat as everyone else

Liverpool training camp in Austria has one positive covid test, be surprised if more and more teams coming back from holidays don’t report the same.

A training camp abroad is a bit much in these current conditions
