It's nice for the young uns in that they can have the same shirt as everyone else.

My interest in this deal isn't remotely in what the company do, what the logo looks like or what next season's shirt will be - for me there are only two questions about any shirt sponsorship deal - how much is it for and how long is it for? So far I've seen nothing that confirms either of those two things and no one seems overly keen to make a big noise about either.

So yeah, welcome Cazoo - as long as you're spending a fortune for the privilege.

I guess this means that we're free to find a different sleeve sponsor - lets get full value for that one too please.

Agreed. A bonus for me is the logo being a nice simple clean logo. And if it’s just the “Cazoo” part of their logo then I can’t complain.

I hate when there’s colours and elaborate labels on sponsors. Clean white font is perfect.

It's also not that rare considering Wolves and Palace have the same sponsor.

I don't believe you.

Yeah it’s not that rare. We’ve had 32Red at the same time as other clubs. Remember plenty of times in the past companies like Carlsberg and McEwans Lager sponsoring multiple teams at once

There is a fantastic video that went around of Chelsea's agency sending out sponsorship box to potential sponsors when they eventually signed with Yokohama tires. Each box cost like $10K and included a portable video player that showcased a personalized video of all the benefits the sponsor would get.

Whereas our box just has a copy of the extra-long cut of Apocalypse Now.

On Betamax.

You do realise that Yokohama deal was negotiated and seen through by Christian Purslow?

And that Nicola Ibbotsen, the woman in charge of our sponsorships negotiated what was then a record breaking £750m kit deal for Chelsea in the same year?

The stuff that you're really happy to credit Chelsea with was done by the people you think don't have a clue.

Founde by the same guy who found Zoopla and LoveFilm... Their deal with Everton is worth £29m over three seasons, and some of their fans are moaning that we're getting the same money, but not sure where they've got that information from.

For decades Rangers and Celtic always had the same sponsor.  The Logic being that just sponsoring one would be cost neutral. For any additional sales from one side you get total boycott from the other side.

A lesser illustration of this is that I will never ever in my life purchase a Triton shower.

Think Villa sponsorship agency sent Sportpesa CEO our kit as a feeler to gauge their potential interest. This is often done by agencies. The CEO took the liberty of posting the kit on his Instagram.

And no doubt at the same time put out some really really attractive odds on them being our next sponsor whilst placing his own bets elsewhere they they wouldn't.

What's shady about 2 teams having the same sponsor? Last season we were one of about 10 Championship clubs sponsored by 32Red.

That's not the point - the point is that both Villa and Everton have had dealings with SportPesa to differing extents - Everton cancelled their contract, while Villa were seemingly in negotiations - then all of a sudden both clubs end up ditching SportPesa for Cazoo instead.

It's a bit strange Everton cancelled their 5-year deal after 3 years with SportPesa because they wanted to "change their commercial strategy" - and they end up with Cazoo. Also the Racing Point F1 team were sponsored by SportPesa but this was also cancelled a year into a multi-year deal because of "home market difficulties".

There's nothing rare about having the same sponsor but with Everton and Racing Point ditching SportPesa and Villa possibly doing the same, there's something shady about SportPesa imo.

Mira showers used to sponsor Cheltenham Town, hope that was acceptable for you.

Allegedly when Newcastle got Northern Rock as sponsor that a large amount of accounts in Sunderland were closed down in the same week

When the Honey Monster scored his overhead kit in a Newcastle shirt, they had to take Sugar Puffs off the shelves in Sunderland supermarkets for a bit as Sunderland fans were vandalising the packets.

Right there, that's the real spirit of football.
