Baptiste Santamaria is on his way to Friebourg FC. He can't be all that if Freibourg are the only team to be in for him.

He's really good IMO and that'll be a great pickup for them. They'll sell him for £25m inside two years.

Good players on the move for not much money.

He can't be that good otherwise Brentford would have signed him already.

Wonder how much we have off our wage bill so far?

Chester - 30k?, Bree - 20k?, Green - 8k?, Drinkwater - 60k?, Reina - 60k?, Baston - 30k? (all those salaries are guesses ofc)

thats 200k ish a week (150k off if im super conservative) off our budget, plus any increases in our available budget?

hopefully we can use the salary budget capacity for some tasty signings......

If only we could get Lansbury - 40k?, Hogan - 30k?, Taylor - 30k?, Nyland - 20k? off our budget.... (120k ish)

im bored obviously.....no transfer news yet!?!?

11 days until kickoff and we haven't made any signings...

When does the window shut?

well, technically 19 days until we kick off..... (first game 20th Sept vs Sheff Utd).

Deadline is 5th October, however deals between the Prem and English lower leagues will close on 16th October.

Regardless, we need most of the key players in before the Sheff Utd game imo.

Left back Phillip Max going to PSV from Augsburg for around £7m.

And striker/right winger (anyone know a club who needs those positions) Kevin Volland going to Monaco for £15m.

Loads and loads and loads of value out there. Both of those would have been excellent additions for that price.

Wow, great signing for PSV!

Patrick Schick has joined Leverkusen ... shame !

Edouard better sign as not excited about spending £30 mill plus on C.Wilson.

Also is Matty Cash better than Max Aaron’s ?

Neither of those players are better than the alternatives you mention

Regardless of whether or not we play Jack in the middle or out wide, we are still relying on Hourihane either being a starter or 1st choice backup. We need more / better than that if we are to make a difference next season.

The way I see it is Jack and Conor are creative.....they are not well blessed at stopping the opposition.....so they can get sidetracked and mixed up in stuff they struggle with.

If you are playing in the centre you have to have skills to nullify raids and negate opposition approaches......I am not wholly convinced we have players with the 3 P's to do that.....Power, pace and presence.....If we did, Jack and Conor could relax more to do what they do best and play higher up the pitch, in a more disciplined fashion.

I understand Luiz and Nakamba was brought in to do that.....only Luiz has shown signs after lockdown, that he can cope, but he needs assistance.

Still hoping we have a proper plan A for targets and not just being lazy with plan B(rentford).

It does show by the activity in the market, these players we are looking for, are around.

Yeah and it’ll show by our eventual signings about whether we were ready.  It’ll be worth the wait if we bring in quality to this squad, it’ll be understandable that it wasn’t easy getting the quality.

If we end up with average players then we know we weren’t ready....either that we didn’t know we couldn’t get the players we wanted, which is bad prep and ended up with plan B or C, or we got the run around by average players who thought they could do better but couldn’t so came to us which doesn’t bold well for us.

Just keeping my fingers crossed we get some surprise quality because some of the links are a little depressing.

I'd rather they wait until late in the transfer window if that means there's a bigger chance to get more of their main targets than buying 2nd/3rd/4th choices early on. We have a good enough team for the start of the season and were lucky to have a game postponed as well.

We saw what happened last summer when we missed out on main targets - Phillips, Webster, Benrahma. If it doesn't work out at least they'd have tried.

Out of curiosity, how do people listing all these players playing abroad know they are actually any good? It’s different when it’s a top tier club like a Madrid or Juventus but just curious outside of that group unless watching lots of foreign football weekly?

Bundesliga on BT sport every week. Brilliant stuff. I only watch Villa games from the Premier League.

What happens though is we might get relegated with this team, we were bloody lucky last season.  Starting with the same team will also be discouraging as well to key players who was told by Edens we wouldn’t get into this position again.  Imagine Jack who bust his balls thinking he’s got to do it again with no support, it’s draining.

Why do you say that? He’s an England international who has played in the Premier League for a number of years. I’d struggle to name a better striker thar we could realistically attain

Come off it, we don’t want a bar of him, over rated and over paid.  If we brought him it would be a really bad move and backward step for this club.
