I don’t see us spending such a big % of the budget on one player when we still have several areas that need strengthening. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned on the Jack IG post is whether the secret agent thing refers to another Chelsea player coming to us ie Tammy has put a good word in. No idea who... Tomori maybe? Firstly Jack in the centre controls and orchestrates the games, his value as a central midfielder is about co trolling the game and breaking teams down. It's not something goals and assist can show. Secondly Jack's stint in central midfield was at a time where the tactics simply didn't compliment the way he plays in that position. It was also at a time he and most of the time weren't fully match fit. The left wing position was best if we need him to carry the attack thats where he can do it best. Thirdly we don't want him carrying the attack as that means the rest of the attack aren't up to it. We sent everything down his wing and got him on the ball as much as possible so if we had say a right winger that was productive and being given almost as much ball as Jack wouldn't that have a negative effect on the amount of time and support Jack receives?! Fourth Jack's previous 2 seasons were disrupted by injury in which he missed more than 10 matches each season. And prior to that he was deployed as a left winger. So we don't actually have sufficient data to do a proper comparison. If we had a left winger scoring 15, and assisting 8, and right winger scoring 8 and assisting 15 wouldn't we be better off having Jack run thing in the middle? How we use Jack for me depends on our options and tactics. We took the only option we had this season as he was the only attacking player that was producing, we basically were force to put all our eggs in that basket, and Jack rose to the challenge. Would be a great first signing to help persuade Jack to stay and moving him to AM . Surely the whole point of this summer is to come out of it with OPTIONS rather than having to play him somewhere because the alternative has proved they aren’t up to speed in the Premier League. For example, when Percy tweeted about Watkins, you’d have thought he’d mention him. I think we’re in for Watkins, Rashica and probably 2 more players after that. Who’s to say he wouldn’t be even better centrally with two decent wingers either side of him creating more space for him around the edge of the box?
