jacketspuds
No to Loftus-Cheek, mostly because of his injury record. He could be another Mings type inspired signing. But he could also be another like Wilshere who has glass legs.

Fail to see what we gain from it. It's a short term solution to bring in a top quality player so that we have a better chance of finishing higher up the table and next summer getting in higher profile players. Agree a loan to buy would be best though.
Kiwivillan
As soon as I said interested in RLC I remembered Achilles rupture and then looking at stats it's absolute avoid from me
Mazrim
Yeah the injury record is a concern. Seems like it was mainly 1 bad year though?

Popular Post TrentVilla Posted September 23, 2020 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted September 23, 2020 The Barkley link is legit, not to say it will happen but it is 100% legit. Loan with option to buy, wages part funded by Chelsea. I thought our game against Sheff United showed how much we need a number 8 and Barkely could be a very shrewd addition in my view. I like Loftus-Cheek or liked, personally I think he is crocked now so wouldn't go for him personally and I think we would be wary after Drinkwater but Barkely, if we can do it would be a good move. 16
Vive_La_Villa
Barkley would be a fantastic signing. Really hope this can happen.
TheMelvillan
I must have transfer window induced dyslexia but based on these acronyms I keep on thinking that people are suggesting signing Nigel Reo Coker! *And yes I know that RLC is technically an initialism rather than an acronym but it seemed odd to use that word

VillaChris
Loftus Cheek actually started Chelsea's first game at Brighton which surprised me and suggests he's still very much part of Lampard's plans. Think Barkley is more likely. He's inconsistant but usually has one good spell a season where he scores and assists for a while. Only 26 so it's not really a Drinkwater type move. Kiwivillan
If Chelsea sign Rice then Barkley more likely to be let go on loan I imagine
The Fun Factory
Well after the Drinkwater fiasco Chelsea owe us one. Barkley would be a very good bit of business, even for a loan.
Vive_La_Villa
Their squad is bloated. Very good players will end up not even making match day squads. They have to let a few players go.
joshharris12
Looking at it Chelsea have so many centre mids so may be legs in Barkley terry/Chelsea connection will help. 100% would be a big improvement for villa
Kiwivillan
I'm coming round to idea of Barkley but isn't our current squad Scouse-free? Would the other players have to wear flea collars or something?
