Has there been any discussion of this on here?

I linked to a few other drugs showing similar results but not this specific one , seems a lot of existing medicines can make a decent  dent in Covid -19 ?

the French had a similar clinical result with Plaquenil ,  although its primary an anti malaria drug , it can also be used to treat  immune conditions such as Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis , so maybe that's the link in that it is boosting immune systems  and allowing them to fight it ?

the WHO seem to be advising caution .. the Chinese and South Koreans appear to have gone full speed ahead and used it ...

I read that the other day, sounds promising.

There was another viral drug that was apparently showing progress too.

Also read there is some reports coming out of China that blood type makes a difference to severity, with ‘A’s getting it bad and O’s getting the mild one.

Very  small sample of people checked though and nothing conclusive.

Surprised it hadn't been already!

So what's the gist of this Vulcan protection act?

Something along the lines of "Live long and prosper"?

Something has gone badly wrong in the way the UK has handled Covid-19. I know Chris Whitty, the chief medical officer, and Patrick Vallance. I have the utmost respect for both. They have had the services of some of the most talented researchers in the world to draw on. But somehow there was a collective failure among politicians and perhaps even government experts to recognise the signals that Chinese and Italian scientists were sending. We had the opportunity and the time to learn from the experience of other countries. For reasons that are not entirely clear, the UK missed those signals. We missed those opportunities.

In due time, there must be a reckoning. I sat with the director general of the World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in Geneva in February. He was in despair. Tedros had been criticised for not calling a public health emergency of international concern sooner. But when he did and when he asked for the modest sum of $675m to help the WHO combat the growing global pandemic his pleas were ignored.

The UK is now taking the right actions to defeat this new epidemic. But we have lost valuable time. There will be deaths that were preventable. The system failed. I don’t know why. But, when we have suppressed this epidemic, when life returns to some semblance of normality, difficult questions will have to be asked and answered. Because we can’t afford to fail again. We may not have a second chance.

My friend in Spain just posted this on FB as to what live is like over there:

So for my family and friends in the UK and FB friends that are hearing about what is happening over here in Spain. This is the reality...

Yes we are in total quarantine...
What does that mean?

*Well everything is closed apart from pharmacies, supermarkets, petrol stations.
*All bars and restaurants and shops are closed.
*We are not allowed to leave the house unless it's to buy food or an emergency.
*When we need food only one person from the household can go to the supermarket.
*In supermarkets you cannot enter unless you are wearing gloves. They are provided at the door.
*In supermarkets and queues we have to stay in single file with a 2 meter distance between each person.
*We are not allowed to socialise with friends even in our own homes.
*We are not allowed more than 1 person in a car.
*We are only allowed to walk our pets within 50 metres of our house and it must be a quick walk on your own.
*We are not allowed to just take a walk or a bike ride to get fresh air
*All childrens outdoor parks are closed. Beaches are closed.
*The majority of people have suddenly found themselves with no work.
*Many hospital appointments have been cancelled.
*There are hefty fines if you do not abide by the rules.
*Its absolutely heartbreaking to see where you live look like something from a weird Si Fi or horror movie.. This is our now reality
BUT...
This is saving lives!
