Newborn baby ‘tests positive’ for coronavirus at London hospital

A newborn baby has reportedly been diagnosed with coronavirus in London, becoming the pandemic’s youngest victim. The child’s mother was reportedly rushed to North Middlesex Hospital in the borough of Enfield with suspected pneumonia days earlier. It is thought she only learned of her diagnosis right after giving birth. The newborn was thought to have been tested within minutes of being born. Doctors are now trying to establish how the baby caught the Sars-like disease – either through the womb or during birth. The mother is now being treated at a specialist facility while her child is being cared for at another hospital.

BA have announced anyone flying up until the end of March can cancel flights without charge ... they will issue you with a voucher for the equivalent value ... hopefully other airlines will follow suit

Have you heard anything about Emirates mate?

Supposed to be going to Dubai a week on Monday for the Horse racing World Cup on the 28th but they cancelled the event and concert yesterday!

As of last night, The entirety of the UAE has only 65 active cases (25 cases less than Ireland)

Probably will be safer over there but still mindful of airports and plane journey risks exposures.

Anyone else have any current live updates on Dubai please?

TIA

While we are all being selfish here and thinking about ourselves I think we should send some thoughts and prayers to the real victims here. All the celebrities, WAGs and influencers who might not be able to get to their weekly botox appointments now and who'll soon be looking like prunes or or at least close to their actual age.

Think about their Insta stories ffs! Guess that's the real reason they are all buying face masks...

This being reported on twatter. Not sure how much hyperbole is involved but the suggestion is that these new powers will last for two years and will include

1. Forcing schools to stay open (so no strikes in the education sector)
2. Detaining people suspected of carrying the virus
3. Reducing standards in care homes
4. Stopping any vehicle for no reason

I’m on my 6th day in Spain in Toremelinos. I have been to Benalmadena, Marbella and last night went up in to Malaga. The place was heaving and the bars were busy. We were out in Malaga until midnight before coming back to Toremelinos. We did about 5/6 bars in total. Seems to be business as usual in the Costa del Sol for now. Nobody seems particularly bothered at all where we are

Hospitals already look like ‘war zones’ and could stop treating the most severely ill coronavirus victims

Hospitals could stop treating the most severely ill coronavirus victims if the outbreak escalates. Patients with a poor prognosis may even be taken off ventilators in favour of those with better survival chances.

Dr Shondipon Laha of the Intensive Care Society said 'Should it come to deciding any kind of triaging system, it will be patient-based and survival-based,' he said.

Four in five of the 4,123 adult critical care beds in England were occupied before the coronavirus even arrived in the UK. Italy has around 12.5 critical beds per 100,000 people, while the UK has just 6.6. The health service has among the lowest number of intensive care beds in Europe per head of population.

Hospitals are rapidly increasing their intensive care capacity and doctors say wards already look like 'war zones' as they fill up with patients.

So, how is Baldrick Johnson's cunning plan working out?
