Yep, that will end up costing us about £5m.

How'd you work that out?

From reports, it could be about £2m in fee we've lost, plus about £0.6m in wages (which we'd have had to pay for someone)
Given he was a replacement for Kodija - who the reported fee (transfermarkt.com) for was £2.7m, plus his wages for 6 months - our position in the end might actually be better than it would have been!

Obviously, bringing in the right player would have been preferable, but the price for them in January might have been a lot more.

AVFC Tweet.

Samagoal has left. We wish him the best.

That's it. That's the tweet.

That's poor. Makes you think something has gone on behind the scenes.

We need to be better than this. Not a leaving video but a short (obviously!) bio of his time with him, and some other niceties, plus a couple of pics and maybe a quote from the manager?

Yeah and maybe send him a bouquet of flowers. Put the flags at VP at half mast. Go the whole hog for such a club legend.

Agree

Paired with him not really coming back after lockdown, not sure if he had depression or just loneliness or what but something wasn't right

Not buying in to this worst player terrible signing stuff, think lockdown done him, good player in there somewhere, wouldn't be surprised to see him do a sorloth

Bit of a weird response.

When someone leaves - there's no harm in being kind. What they did is the least possible effort, and people notice. As a lot of people have if you read the response.
If he has mates at the club, they will notice too. For the sake of 5 minutes writing, the club might have just left a couple of players a bit pissed off for their mate.

I would.

Sorloth was still learning at Palace. He arrived as a 22 year old i think.

Very different. Samatta is soon turning 28 and wasn't even prolific in Belgium.

I'd be surprised if he scores 15 goals this season.

Why?

He came. He was woeful. He played no part in us staying up. He earned good money and got a 4 and half year deal

What is this poor Samma narrative everyone is feeding?

Poor guy. We probably quadrupled the wages of a terrible footballer and increased his profile to get another great move and another 4 year deal.

He has won at life. Bloody hell. Poor Sama. 1 like 1 prayer.

It's just very poor PR & Comms and marketing from the club. The post and statement will be picked up by global media, never mind the many Tanzanian, African, Turkish and Fenerbahce fans that will see it. Should put some effort and class into it.  Makes us look like an indifferent club.

I was never entirely sure about this one, I think Ally was an absolute panic buy without a whole lot of options out there. So glad we got rid of Suso though.

Wish him the best all things considering, never seemed good enough for the Premiership.

Didn't realise  that he has now officially left. Well good luck to him, ,at least he always worked hard and acted  professionally. Is this a transfer or loan?

All in all a very strange signing. You get the feeling it was about option 3 or 4 in the January shopping list.

It shows that for 8 million now you don't get a lot. Its a shame he as looked quite lively pre lockdown but for whatever reason he lost his mojo and his departure is hardly a surprise.

We are ridiculously lightweight up front again though.
