There was a striker, a Belgian Striker...

But I know him as a person and he’ll be desperate to prove his worth and maybe a move back to Villa…I’m sure the Villa fans will welcome him back with open arms.

“So I definitely see that as being an option if the package is right,” Hutton added.

You would then have to make that 4 seasons he kept us up! There's something about this that seems like a perfect fit to me. He was outstanding for Villa over period of time you simply can't put down to a fluke or whatever you like. Win win for us. Bring him home.

No, no, no. Pure nostalgia.

Why would he give up a strong contract at Palace to play on a heavily-incentivised one? We already know he is a mercenary and was previously contemplating playing in China.

Do it. Would be a good loan option and would be good to buy another striker that can also play out wide.

If it's a loan and he's one of 2 strikers then I spose it's ok. If he's the only one we manage to sign then I'd be a bit worried to be honest.

...as surely you would, what with your Premier League football experience and world stature, of course.

Please no, He was great in his days but he's lost it now. Would be a little disappointed if we got him in.

For those with a penchant for logic, can you spot the flaw in this set of premises /conclusion?

1. Benteke was good for Villa

2. He left Villa 4 years ago and has been terrible for two other clubs

3. Therefore, if he comes back to Villa he will be good again.

He has been beset by injuries the last two seasons. Season before that he scored 15 goals for Palace.

Yeah, those 2 knee injuries is the biggest reason I don't want him back

When I see him for Palace, the Benteke we all knew seems to be still there somewhere, but he just can't get his mojo going again as he's always stop/start due to injury and falling down the pecking order as a result. He'll like come on while they're chasing the game against Manchester City or something, fail to score, come back on the bench again, rinse repeat. If he can get some consistency and some patience with him, who knows...he might find his groove again.

He may also want regular games in order to get back into the Belgium set up?

I’m not against this loan happening to be honest. Is he an upgrade on Kodjia? Hell yeah, so let’s take a punt.
