Have a couple of Ipswich ST mates and they don't rate Barry ..... say he's way too lightweight and looks like a 12 year old playing senior football. They also say he plays with his head down, doesn't read the game, doesn't see team mates and basically offers next to nothing.

Sounds like he has moved up too soon !

For context, he's played a whopping 132 minutes of football this season (68 minutes in League One and 64 minutes in the League Cup).

Really does give context to likely accuracy of the analysis there. They've formed their opinion so quickly they would fit right in on here.

Club can't charge into the rescue because a young kid isn't being handed chances on a silver platter and isn't taking them when they are offered.

Louie has a lot of talent but is in his 4th club (albeit on loan) Having only turned 18 in the summer. He has to go and fight for his place, learn a thing or five, grow & bulk up a bit and start applying his talents.

Can't just have (figurative or literal) mummy and daddy charge in and save him, bringing him back home to be sheltered in the Midlands and have an easy ride until a 5th club goes for him in January and try again.

A loan is exactly what he needed as decided by the club and player and we can't and shouldn't pull him out until he's given it a good crack.

If he's not playing at all, not even on the bench then he's better off here playing for our u23. It was a bad loan move, we need to wise up and pick teams who have weak squads who would have to play our loan players.  Not teams that have loads of options and just fancy having some talent in their squad.

That's five years of Keinan Davis and we always shoot him down all the same !

You are both right and wrong. They should be good teams but with a hole on the position our loan player plays at. Or we just put in the loan contract they must play a certain number of games minutes excluding injuries.

He was injured last week, I presume he must still be injured.

When Archer was Barry's age he wasn't even a regular at U23 level yet, was still playing for our U18s, last season when Archer was on loan at Solihull Moors he was a year older than Barry is now; if anything Archer's situation should give Barry encouragement and help put things into perspective for him, not just Barry, but our other players out on loan as well.

He can learn a lot from the situation - the question is 'will he?' At any rate, he's still really young and has plenty of time - a bit of adversity can be really helpful.

We don't fully know what's going on, he might have been told beforehand that he'd be introduced slowly into the team as the season progressed rather than being thrown straight in, so from his perspective things might not being going as badly as they appear from the outside, his injury and Ipswich starting the season so poorly won't have helped his situation either, given that they will probably feel they need to go with experienced players to get them out of the bad form they're in.

Either way I'm sure he will be learing from the situation, and he will have Jedinek and others advising him. I'm pretty confident that he will go on to be a very good player and Ipswich will look back on this period and wonder why on earth they didn't use him more, pretty much how some Solihull fans are thinking now with regards to Archer.

Relax he's been injured and recently played an u-23 game for fitness. Hopefully we will see him get some more minutes next week or the week after.

Was unaware of the recent injury, but wasn't being played when fit either

From Football Transfer Tavern

Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry has been out of action for Ipswich Town recently due to a nasty tooth abscess, according to Ashley Preece.

“He’s been out with a nasty tooth abscess, believe it or not. Barry was back in match action for Ipswich’s U23s earlier. Villa will address Barry’s loan in January. He desperately needs a run of games.”

I can't say I have heard of that as a reason for missing a football match. It sounds like he is on his way back to fitness now, so hopefully he will get some game time soon. If not it sounds like We are monitoring the situation and he will be called back in January and found another loan.
