We know Smith has to go. This is the first time I've said it but he can't turn this around. People defended him saying we can't be expected to hold a lead against Arsenal (that's BS base on other team's results), or get anything from Chelsea (ditto). We'd get the points against Watford, Sheff U, Southampton. I'm sorry but we have to run this like a business - bring in somebody who knows how to survive relegation. Just like Watford have with Pearson.

But we need some short-term changes to ensure we're not too far adrift when a new manager comes in. Douglas Luiz needs to be nowhere near the first XI. Bring Chester in at the back alongside Hause. Don't play Elmo or Jota again. And if it's not stating the obvious - Kodjia in for Wesley, for at least a five game run.

Beyond awful

Said it in the match thread, we made changes to combat the festive season yet watford outrun us from the kick off with the same side they've played 3 times in a week

This is just like villa in the 3 years under Lambert, same team same style same old shit every week

Absolutely awful. Here is what Smith did wrong:

-Not playing Jack in the middle
- not using any players with pace
- not changing / resting elhomady for Guilbert
- playing Jota from the start
- not using kodja earlier

Here is what did right
- picking hause again maybe

Other than that he was all over the place. The team has no cohesion and this comes from the players picked.  We fell apart drastically. Manger to blame . Yes definitely.

Sackable. Not yet,  but we are desperate for new recruits and some sort of springboard. He needs to learn quickly.

Did we have ten men, or did they? That was beyond embarrassing and the team really are playing, like they have a death wish.  One clear chance and it’s just our luck that it fell to Wesley! The players should all hang their heads in shame after this one. Oh, and Deeney just had to score two of them, didn’t he? What a way to end a decade…:(

Starting to resemble the team which went down. It's hard to see where we are going to get ANY more points from. Could have a similar second half if the season to what that team did.  An utter shambles and utterly cowardly.

Time to go. If there were signs of improvement I could get behind him but we are looking worse every week and a shadow of the team we saw early in the season.
