Popular Post chrisp65
For what it’s worth, I think its been a little bit of all of the above. I’ve been overweight in the past. I’m annually intelligent, I know that it’s basically put less food in your mouth and move around more. But you need the whole personal landscape to be working for you to actually achieve that. I had all the usual worries people have and they knocked sorting out my weight well down my to do list. I lacked the motivation to fix it. So you could say, I was just fat because I ate chips and cakes. But it’s just not that simple. I was worried about the kids, and my parents, and the job, and the credit card bill, and changing the car, whether the SFA would go on another tour, and blah blah blah. I had what can only be described as some financial very bad luck, nothing I could reasonably have avoided, that was a real downer. Life, man. There were all those blockers higher up the to do list. One of the main ones being, when you’re on the road sat in a car for days at a time, a **** M&S salad just isn’t going to cut it. Perversely, you pile in the comfort food away from home, just when you haven’t even had the opportunity to go for a walk and spend 45 minutes digging up the allotment. I defy anyone to drive 300 miles and when they get to the services, look at the apples, look at the samosas, then the cinnamon swirls... and choose the apples. All those fat lorry drivers, why don’t they just prep a nice tuna salad the night before! Also, something I’ve realised for a while, I genuinely like and enjoy food, but very rarely actually feel hungry, or full. I could go all day and then remember I haven’t eaten. But I could also put away more Indian takeaway than you would imagine possible. You try regulating your eating when your eating pattern is chaotic, you don’t get the sensation of being ‘full’ and you enjoy food. And you’ve spent 8 hours of the day sat still in a car, slightly bored. You would never ever have looked at me in 2019 and thought ‘that guy never feels hungry’. You can’t look at the outside of someone and know what’s going on. It’s judgemental and it’s big headed bollocks. Narcissism. I didn’t feel hungry this morning, I made myself some toast. I don’t feel hungry now, but I’ll have lunch in a short while. I won’t feel hungry later, but I’ll make a lasagne. What I won’t now do, is make the worlds largest lasagne, and garlic bread and have a family bag of dorrito’s an hour later, then a bit of chocolate because I fancy something sweet, and then around midnight stare in the fridge for something interesting out of boredom. It’s my pre occupation now, having lost 25 kg’s over a long period, not to slip back in to patterns of behaviour. I’m not exactly prime athlete now, but I’m 6’2” and the last trousers I bought were a 36” waist and if I’d wanted to, I could have put up with the discomfort of a 34” waist (yes, I look a bit like that standing dog picture). But it really isn’t as easy as just saying don’t eat cake.

[runs away] Someone whose music I admire rather than like, is how I view him. I could probably assemble a pretty good “best of” from his back catalogue and that would suffice. For whatever reason I quite like him when he turns up in films.

That's not to say he doesn't have his place and I like quite a bit of his material before Scary Monsters, from that album onwards he was generally awful to my ears and he's not really the visionary chameleon rock god that he's now been elevated to Best of Bowie, double album of songs released before 1980. You can put the rest in the bin

Although, I did notice last week that Services M&S’s were selling individual walnut whips, which is a game changer. Because now I can buy just the one at Chievley. Then just the one at Reading. Then one on the way home from Membury.

But I did notice them, sat there, in their little individual wrappers. I was well in to my walnut whips back in the day. I’m all about posh vine ripened tomatoes now, **** the turtles. chrisp65
By chance, I’ve just had my little map for April... Them’s Yorkie miles, them’s chips miles. Imagine driving a van or a lorry for a living to pay the mortgage, you can only eat takeaway because the hotel restaurants are closed or your company doesn’t have the budget for hotels with restaurants. You can only eat at motorway services because you can’t take the lorry in to that interesting looking town off the A40. Then on the weekend some skinny kid looks at you and thinks, just don’t eat cakes you fat bastard.
bickster Posted May 5, 2021 Moderator Share Posted May 5, 2021 And lets not forget that this whole conversation on Tubbies was started by someone whose country doesn't even use the top slice of bread in a sandwich

It’s quite possible when Bowie has been brought up previously, you or someone else on here has said similar and that view was both succinct and accurate enough to register with me and sum up my feelings towards him. Basically I think I might be echoing a VTer’s post from years ago.

Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted May 5, 2021 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted May 5, 2021 Fig rolls are the trouble. When you put them in the biscuit tin they go hard and make the other biscuits soft. I avoid this by eating the whole packet as soon as I open them. 3
