It’s a bloody good album.

I'm hoping to go and pick mine up on Friday (poss Thursday) and have so far avoided playing it on Spoty because I know I have it kept back for me (Here come the Warm Dreads excepted)

I love Here Come... because for me its got some real old style mixing, as in, just turning one side up and down, on and off.

But I think maybe Space Craft is my fave track on a generally strong album. You’ll love it.

I know what @mjmooney is going to say, and I agree with him :)

Kim Gordon. That's all I got. By got I mean I know the name.

I agree, it's all I've heard of too but it was enough for me to think there maybe something worth investigating in the list. I've sort of had the Kim Gordon album on as a result but was too busy to pay it much attention but I did get that I should listen to it again from it, I'll also explore some more.

Lists like that are why I love this thread every year.

Good shout. I loved part 1.

Also forgot to add Sharon Van Etten, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Julia Jacklin to my list.

I’d take elements of both and make a super single album.

in Degrees and Into the Surf are just epic.

No albums that absolutely blew my mind from start to finish, but these were nice...

Bill Callahan - Shepherd in a Sheepskin Vest
Caroline Polachek - Pang
Jai Paul - Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) [technically all the material is from 2013, but officially released last year]

There are a lot more albums that weren't released last year, but I only discovered recently. Deafheaven were a good find, and I spent a lot more time listening to Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile.

Top tip: Most of @tonitottakai's recommendations seem to be on Spotify's Women of Experimental playlist, so I will give that a listen 🙂

From the hiphop POV I'd say Gang Starr - One of the Best Yet:

Image result for gang starr one of the best yet

DJ Premier (and the mixing engineers) did an incredible job taking a disperate set of Guru acapellas and creating an album. I thought DJ Premier created a series of truly excellent beats and demonstrated why he is arguably the greatest of all time at what he does.

Shows most people don’t get past the offer rack in HMV.

its also a no indies list. I’d still like to know how they compile the charts these days

Yeah, that can only be HMV and Asda.

I use a good few shops and I’d say the majority of those albums probably aren’t stocked. If they are, it’s under the counter stuff.
