Liverpool's throw-in coach has admitted he is open to working with other Premier League clubs, including the Reds' rivals.

Thomas Gronnemark's role at Melwood has roused plenty of interest with the Dane credited with revolutionising Liverpool's play from throw-ins.

A former athlete himself, Gronnemark once broke the world record for the longest throw and now works as a freelance coach in his field.

His services were sought out by Liverpool in 2018 and he has continued to work alongside Jurgen Klopp and his players since.

But despite Liverpool keeping him on at the club for another season, Gronnemark insists he is under no obligation to stick solely to working with the Merseyside outfit.

I would be wary about employing anyone that is paid by more than one club,  especially in the same domestic competition. The potential conflict of interest is unavoidable.  Sure, he's probably a genuine bloke that would share no knowledge between the clubs he's working for, not least because it could ruin his career, but I'd say no thanks and find our own.

I'd take anyone under any circumstances if it helped us improve our throw in situation. We've been dire at it for at least 10 years, probably closer to 20.

We need a specialist coach to come in and sort it out. This guy is a freelance specialist who works for Plop and a bunch of other clubs. I imagine most clubs don't have a full time specialist throw in coach so odds are most will be working for multiple clubs. Then again I have no idea. But we need one.

the england stuff is interesting even though i dont have a clue if he was any good at it

if we can stick someone in there who's focus can then be the integration of the younger players that'd be a massive plus

Another ex West Brom youth coach too. Uncle of Paul Downing. I went to Uni with Leigh Downing brother if Paul who never made it through at Baggies. 

Keith Downing will be well known to Harrison and others.

Think we will try and lure someone similar to Terry who we can mould as a poss long term replacement… Don’t know enough about Keith Dowling to consent on his ability, he would strike me as smiths choice and does our model allow for this ?

I noticed this on the official site earlier...

Aston Villa's Academy players have been working hard during pre-season at Bodymoor Heath.

As preparations continue for the upcoming season, both the Under-23's fixtures and the Under-18's fixtures were released this week.

And under the watchful eye of coaches George Boateng, Sean Verity and Liam Bramley, the squads have been honing their craft on the training pitches. 

Here are some of the latest snaps from Academy training... 

No mention of Delaney, could be that he's helping out with the U23s training with the first team, but also made me wonder could he possibly be promoted to first team coach.

Aston Villa have promoted FA Youth Cup-winning manager Liam Bramley as the club's new elite development coach, BirminghamLive can reveal.

Bramley, formerly of the FA and Newcastle United, takes on the role which will see him bridging the gap from Aston Villa's academy and first-team, ensuring players are ready for the step up to senior football.

Bramley, of course, worked with those who are currently training with the first-team at present, the likes of Chukwuemeka, Chrisene, Bogarde and others while, this week, Arjan Raikhy has been included in first-team sessions following his loan recall from Stockport County.

Last weekend, 16-year-old centre-back Josh Feeney stepped up to the first-team squad at Brentford as he replaced the now-departed Axel Tuanzebe on the bench.

Gerrard worked alongside elite development coaches while at Liverpool and Rangers, with Jurgen Klopp's assistant manager Pep Lijnders stepping up from that very role to the Reds' first team in 2018 having helped develop the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones.

Bramley's position at Villa will be similar to Lijnders' at Liverpool previously in the sense that he will be the middleman between Villa's youngsters in the first team and Gerrard and his coaching staff.

I wondered why he wasn't on the bench in the FA Youth Cup game against Leicester, the offical site also interviewed Sean Verity and Karl Hooper before the game when it's normally Bramley and Verity. I wonder if they will now bring in someone to replace Bramley as U18 manager, or just stick with Verity and Hooper, Bramley was specifically brought in a few seasons back and has seemingly done a good job.

It sounds like we have lost a member of the backroom staff to Deano at Norwich. I see in the above posts by @sne and @useless that he was only just promoted by Villa, so it seems a bit odd?

 

Bramley appointed by Norwich

Dean Smith has added Aston Villa's Liam Bramley to his coaching team as Norwich City confirm other changes in staff at the club.

Bramley was elite development coach at Aston Villa having been promoted from under-18s manager by Smith before he departed the Midlands club in November and has joined the Canaries as a first-team coach. 

He will be tasked with supporting Smith and assistant Craig Shakespeare in preparing the first team for Premier League matches, being an active part of training sessions and supporting the analysis department. 

Bramley, who has also worked for the FA and Newcastle United, was joint-manager of the Villa U18 side who won the youth cup last season, defeating Liverpool 2-1 in the final at Villa Park back in May. 

He subsequently earned a promotion to his current role designed to act as a conduit between the first team and development squad.

"He is a young, up-and-coming coach and someone that both myself and Shakey [Craig Shakespeare] highlighted as a potential addition to our setup here.

“We were impressed with his qualities at Villa and are delighted to have such a progressive young coach join us here at Norwich," he told the club's official channels.

“Liam was a name that I discussed with both Stuart [Webber] and Neil [Adams] during our initial talk. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to get the deal done with Villa to bring him here.

 

 

 

“Liam will provide an additional coaching link to the analysis department, working closely with Matt Lewis, who has done some excellent work heading up that area during my time with the club.”

His role working with our academy players involved with the first team was pretty specific one, Gerrard had someone doing the same job at Liverpool, so I imagine we will be bringing in someone to replace him, unless they give that role to Danks, who has worked in the academy at Albion and with England at youth level.
