None of us really know what’s happening behind the scenes, but we’re all quick to make a judgement. That Daniel James to Leeds farce is a good example, I watched it play out on the Leeds documentary on Prime. There was also a preseason ‘behind the scenes’ on YouTube two years ago following Chris Wilder’s transfer dealings. Either you get it right or you don't. Now we're in a position where it seems we're starting our third (?) match in a row without a striker. That's just pathetic for me. Utterly embarrassing and seems the club is run like a corner shop, not a professional football club. I don't need to know the details or whether this or that goes on behind the scenes, because what's interesting is whether we've signed the players we need or not. Tottenham have got Son who can play as a striker, he virtually plays as one anyway, did so last season and they performed better as a team, they've also got highly rated youngsters who can play upfront as well, besides even if Spurs are in the same position as us, doesn't make it any more acceptable, we've got nowhere near the attacking quality that they have so not having specialized centre-forward affects us more, and we're the midst of a spell of games of much greater importance. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We used Kodjia - he didn’t perform and didn’t look like performing. He wanted out, so we didn’t use him to secure a deal out the club which has happened. This isn’t Football Manager. useless Posted January 20, 2020 Share Posted January 20, 2020 (edited) I didn't call Son a striker, I said he could play there, as he has done many times in his career, even when he's playing as a 'winger' he's not playing on the wing, he's playing as a wide-forward. So no calling him a striker isn't 'laughable'... Edit: Tottenham also have Moura who's also played many times a striker, or wide forward. VillaChris Posted January 20, 2020 Share Posted January 20, 2020 (edited) Spurs have attacking game changers off the bench aswell, Lucas Moura for one and Lamela can also be a decent impact sub. To improve eventually we need a game changer or two off the bench. Seems like years since we've had an attacker like that, can't really think of anyone after Shaun Maloney. Thought Jota would be a decent sub player but it hasn't turned out that way. I assume after the business is done likes of AEG and Trez will be regulars on the bench so really that's how you make the squad stronger, take out inconsistant players out of first 11. useless Posted January 20, 2020 Share Posted January 20, 2020 (edited) Taremi seems to be doing pretty well in Portugal, he's known as the Iranian Zlatan, has a good goal scoring record at internatinal level too, not sure of the oppostion though.
