From what I've seen of Vassilev there's little to suggest that he's ready to start.

Personally thought he changed the game on Saturday.

He was the only player pressing other than Grealish all game. His press created panic and mistakes in the Brighton defence for the 20 minutes he was on the pitch.

I didn't think he was ready either until I watched him on Saturday. I would start him up front alongside El Ghazi or Trezeguet tomorrow.

Goodness me it's frustrating.

It's as though everything about this season is working against us (although no doubt fans of most clubs feel the same)

VAR has been so anti-Villa it's embarrassing

Injuries happening to our absolute best players (Grealish aside) & not just any old injuries, season ending ones.

Delays in signings & injuries causing us to go "weak" just when we have a chance of wins.

No wonder we're struggling.

We've not had much luck have we?! and despite all this only a point from safety. It's not as bad as some of the doom merchants would have us believe, we just need a slight change in fortune and to hit a bit of form at the right time. Having a striker would probably help mind...

All this incompetence nonsense is ridiculous, does anyone really believe there is a single person at the club that wouldn't have preferred signings through the door on the 1st of January?

'But we knew we've needed astriker for months'  - yes and spurs have known for 3yrs they needed back up for Kane. It's not that simple.

Not having a single striker in the whole squad for three of our most important games of the season, reflects very badly on the running of the club, there's no getting away from that, I doubt a single Premier league team has found themselves in this position, Tottenham not having a back up striker as good as Kane is a completely different situation, we haven't even got a specialist centre-forward in the reserves. We knew we needed a new striker even before Wesley got injured, it really should have been sorted much earlier, and no teams want to sell their best players at any time, but that doesn't stop transfers from happening, no one's expecting us to sign other teams' best players.

Ready or not it’s better than what we started the Brighton game with. 5-3-1-2 with Jack sat behind IV & AEG is our best chance of causing them some problems. Also puts Jack back in the middle of the pitch where he can influence the game - and provide some defence for our defensive midfielders...

(I may be in the wrong thread).

I'm sure they would have been happy to receive speculative paperwork.

In fact we should have paperwork submitted for every player that might be on our radar, just in case.

Lol. You’ve not worked for the civil service have you?

I imagine their response would be more along the lines of refusing to file copies of ‘speculative’ paperwork as there is no live case to put it against!

I do take your point though and if Samatta has been on the radar since the summer (to come in alongside Wes as some suggested) it seems very odd to leave everything until the window actually opens.

Maybe they didn’t though, you are just assuming that.

Yes I am, hence ‘if...as some suggested’.

I know the square root of **** all about what has gone on until someone from the club releases a statement!

As per your name if the keeper goes AWOL then maybe we can play with 11 outfield players.

Rush goalie and all that?

Definitely wrong thread but I'm coming in to agree because it's so clearly correct. Get Jack central.

Of course you meant 3-4-1-2 though.
