What the ****????

It's reopening every investigation ever opened against any current member of staff, so potentially offences covering many many years. It's quite likely the overwhelming majority will conclude there's no case to answer.

From the noises that Rowley has been making for months about needing more authority to sack officers, I'm cautiously optimistic he's got the right intentions to try and fix this mess

Just under 2% of the Met POLICE OFFICERS have claims of sexual and domestic abuse against them. It’s incredible.

He had been due to turn up to a police station last week to be charged with seven offences. The alarm was raised when he never arrived.

So he's going to be charged with possessing the most severe category of child porn, and he's free to just drop himself in rather than being dragged in handcuffed? Do they demonstrate this courtesy to every massive nonce or just ones in their gang?

Jawdropping podcast on police gangs in the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department called A Tradition of Violence.

Listen to it.

The journalist behind it gets routine death threats.

The leader of the anti-monarchist Republic movement Graham Smith has been arrested.

Their choice of yellow is interesting - is it known whether they have any links with the French, Mouvement des gilets jaunes?

"It’s in everybody’s interests, especially the Met’s, that they explain exactly why as soon as possible."

We know why they did it. The problem is that the reason isn't (it appears) compatible with the actual law, or powers they have - not even the ones they were just given this week. Twunts. 'stablishment gonna 'stablish.

They would be shot or tortured in many other countries.

I'm not a huge fan of this ceremony at all, but let's just keep them out the way for 1 day of the bloody century and let the people enjoy it. If you don't agree with it, or not interested don't turn up there or watch it on TV.

Is your point that as long as we're not killing and torturing peaceful protestors we should give ourselves a big pat on the back for not being as bad as 'the other guy' and turn a blind eye to any lesser action?

I understood your point on that part of it as I'm apathetic to the whole thing too. That doesn't mean people who feel strongly opposed shouldn't retain a right to peaceful protest.

I really don't get the relevance of the possibility to get killed/tortured by behaving similarly in other countries though.  The only reason I can think of to mention it is to minimise the significance of police arresting peaceful protestors and those that have simply planned to protest.

The relevance was to that tweet, that people think it's the worse thing in the world and deeply concerning that protesters would be arrested or asked to move on, when trying to disrupt or gain attention in what is one of the most significant events in our living history.

Ok, I get where you're coming from. I'm pretty sure no one actually thinks that though.
