bobzy
His needless flicks to give the ball away in our third are really starting to piss me off. When the game is too easy, he gets too cocky. Nakamba was the much better 'holding' midfielder tonight IMO. (Of course, Dougie is still a good player)
MaVilla
he was really poor tonight.
AVTuco Posted January 23, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted January 23, 2021 Terrible game, every touch and decision was wrong. Maybe covid-affected. On to the next one.
Panto_Villan
He's allowed a bad game once in a while, but that was pretty bad. The moment where he threw Mings under the bus sticks in the mind. Maybe it's a cunning plan to ensure Man City don't want to buy him back?
lexicon
He looked a bit lost not playing in a position that he'd made his own for the last year or so. Will definitely forgive him for having an off day, though.
villa4europe
Poor performance coincides with a change in position following the restrictions and break we've just had Nothing to see here
OutByEaster? Posted January 23, 2021 Moderator Share Posted January 23, 2021 I thought he was our best player in the opening half hour, sloppy second half. Burnley will be a very different game.
Rightdm00
I have a feeling Nakamba was occupying much of the space Douglas usually occupies. He works much better with Mcginn playing ahead of him.
VillaChris
Don't think playing him a little more advanced worked. Was a bit sloppy on the ball.
Farlz
The idea from some that he's a box to box mid or something is mental. That DM role is perfect for him, I don't want him anywhere else. I also agree he had a bit of an off night. Some nice moments but overall a bit sloppy however you could say that for a lot of them tonight.
ender4
Possibly our worst player on the pitch tonight. Luckily, it was in a match where it didn't matter.
sharkyvilla
I thought the pitch didn't play that well tonight, understandable with the weather and i don't know whether the groundstaff had to isolate as well but I thought all our better ball-players were a bit below par in that regard, with the exception of Traore. We got to have a look at Doug in a slightly different role but with Sanson coming in I don't think he will have to move again this season from the DM role. Nakamba just showed he can step in for any games Doug has to miss.

OutByEaster? Posted January 23, 2021 Moderator Share Posted January 23, 2021 Yep, it's always good to see a player publicly say, that wasn't good enough and you can expect more.
romavillan Posted January 23, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted January 23, 2021 Yeah second half he was way off it, but luckily we weren't in need of a good performance, we coudl have played one holding and rested him in the end!

I disagree. It is in our job description to mercilessly say publicly our players are not good enough, not his.
