Blimey we aren't signing Tammy.

Barkley will be in 30m range I reckon.

Fringe England international midfielder coming into his prime years with 2 years left on his contract. Would be a good deal if he was available for £30m if he has a good season here.

Maybe if Chelsea are desperate to get rid.

They signed Kovacic for 40m last year and Barkley isn't as good as him given he wasn't getting in team much.

Interesting if Fulham have option to buy for Loftus Cheek and what that is.

From what I read they loaned Barkley out to put him in the shopping window while they put Loftus Cheek out on loan for him to get as much playing time as possible.

So Barkley they are looking to sell and RLC they intent to keep. No idea if this is actually correct thou.

Most likely conjecture but suggests a new contract could find a way to remove the buy back?

"A new contract is surely imminent for Luiz, who moved to Villa from Manchester City 14 months ago. City have a buy-back arrangement which is likely to be removed as part of any new deal."

Re-signing Douglas Luiz to a long-term deal with the buy-back clause removed is arguably the best bit of business we can do over the next couple of transfer windows. Times are definitely turning for us if our best deals during the transfer windows are keeping our stars long-term.

Removing the buy back clause would be great, but we won't be able to do that without City agreeing to it and they'll only do that for a fee.

Surely does sound that he'd like to play further up the pitch, judging from what he's saying in that article.

Any deal we agree with Luiz cannot remove the buy back clause. Only City can do that.

Yeah it is likely that they will negotiate with City before giving Luiz the contract. No point paying him an extra mil or 2 if we then just have to give him back to city anyway.

There was talk around the time Jack and Mings signed their contracts that Luiz was going to sign one, hopefully the delay is that they're negotiating with City.  I reckon there was money left in the budget, it might explain why there was no hint of us signing anyone in the last few weeks.  I bloody hope that's the case anyway.  We will probably find out some random time at no notice.

Dougie is so pivotal to us as a team, everyone knows he’s a brilliant player but he is the foundation for which the team is built.

Go back the last few years and even prior to lockdown, Jack was coming so deep to pick the ball up off the CBs and trying to do everything on his own.

Dougie is a very composed and intelligent player with great awareness and can pass, he is comfortable with the ball, it is him who now sits deep and takes the ball off Konza and TM, this allows Jack to stay further up the pitch attracting two opposition players. Luiz can carry the ball himself so straight away Jack is receiving the ball in more advantageous areas.

Throw in a fully fit JM and a boss in Barkley and suddenly our Midfield is up there with the some of the best in league IMHO.

But key to this is Dougie. I’ll be so sad when he goes.

Considering he played half way across the world a few days ago he still did fine. You can see how pivotal he is to our midfield and also to the way we move the ball forward, but he has that bite when it comes to defence which we have lacked for a while. You just know at some point in the game you're going to see him make a tactical foul or two (or three or four).

He has the look of a flamboyant Brazilian star along with the technical ability to match, but still has a certain grit about him which is why I like him so much.

I thought he was really good after he got his yellow, showed real nous to keep disrupting attacks without ever getting in danger of getting a second booking.  It's easy to forget how young he is sometimes.
