Kalvin Phillips

£11m would be closer to what Phillip's is actually worth than all this talk of £30m. But I doubt it's true, as John Percy who's normally more reliable said that our opening bid would be £14m and that was weeks ago now.

Villa boss Dean Smith has identified Ryan Woods at his old club Brentford if he fails to land Phillips.

Woods cost Brentford £6.5million from Stoke in January and Smith said: “Ryan is a great kid, who is improving all the time as a footballer.

“He makes a game tick. He can switch play and keep the ball moving.”

🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I was wondering if we might make a move for Woods, as we definitely need more than one central midfielder, but I think he'd be in addition to Phillips rather than an alternative.

Some reports that Bournemouth and wolves have entered the race for him.

If wolves are in for him we can forget about it sadly.

I disagree.

Wolves are pretty stocked in center midfield with Neves, Moutinho, Dendoncker, Sais, and Gibbs-White. Unless they are selling Neves I can't see as he'd be a priority for them.

I doubt Wolves will be in for him, most of their signings are either Mendes agents, or play for one of the clubs that Mendes has big connections to. Besides, Phillips plays exactly the same position as Neves, so would be a strange move.

Mings has just made a big step up from Bournemouth, and Wolves were reportedly hoping to sign Konsa, but he came to us.

Philips will be looking for the club with the biggest future prospects aka Villa!
