Popular Post TrentVilla Posted July 10, 2019 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted July 10, 2019 I think landing Mings was probably the most important move this summer but I have to say on par with that this guy is the one I really want. When we were first linked with him I wasn't sure but thinking back to our game at Leeds he was probably the best player on the pitch and certainly did the best job on Grealish that I've seen. I really think this lad is a talent, very capable to making a serious impact at PL level and with potential to be an England player. I think he is potentially a bit special. If we could add him to McGinn and Jack in our midfield I think that would be a great combination for a newly promoted side and would give us such a solid core both defensively and I think for going forward. No idea if we have a chance of landing him or not, I'd guess that if we sign Heaton rather than Butland it would make it financially more possible at least. Why not just be honest and say...no idea what's going on...as none of us have!? Darth Villa Posted July 10, 2019 Share Posted July 10, 2019 We have a nice mix of optimism, cynicism @hippo and realism @Tom13 on VT today, Phillips would be an excellent addition, no doubt overpriced but with bags of potential and as @TrentVilla said, he did a superb job on Grealish last season. I believe something is clearly happening with the player but I'm equally not certain that he's definitely coming to us but he does fit the mold in that he's young and versatile with a future sell on value. Whatever happens today, it's good to see that we are building a team for the future too. In all honestly why wouldn't arguably their best player/one of their own not be the centre piece to their kit launch? I've had my doubts about this, as my own thoughts were it was all a smokescreen and we were trying to land Jansson but that's obviously not happened. I now think Phillips might be a goer.
