Really? and you think that point is soon....just the basics of this suggest if you open too quickly then the original projections of death will occur. Yes we all want to get back to normal life but so many are mixing up lockdown fatigue with actual science. Just get on with it is just plain daft. We have to push the scientists and medical experts because they’ll want to be completely safe which is too far but at the same time we need to follow their advice. We open up too soon, significantly more people will die, further lockdown will happen, people will be more scared to go out, unemployment will rise, people will obviously spend less, more companies go out of business etc etc. Like anything it’s the potential for some additional short term pain for long term gain or risking it and causing a long period of pain. The virus is not going away it just has very little ability to spread at the moment, it’s sitting there waiting for the next host(s). With so many positive active cases and asymptomatic people around, opening up too quickly will just make the whole population a breeding ground for this virus. i’m not saying wait for a vaccine or even controllable treatment but our numbers are so incredibly high that it would be crazy to open too soon. We may as well have not locked down because we have only saved the spread until now. Yeah but even footballers have issues, we have one with asthma and I bet others have underlying conditions. Yes their mortality will be less than the general public but it’s who these players will interact with to play the games from coaches and managers who aren’t young, doctors, medics, facility staff, transportation, food and hygiene staff. Then do they go back to their families, maybe they are lockdown during games, but post games and they are asymptomatic and infect elderly relatives or vulnerable family members. Also the Germans did better than us with this, tested long before us at 120k tests at the beginning of April, we aren’t still at that level yet and their cases and deaths are a quarter of ours, it’s not a comparison between the two countries. Country isn’t ready to open up, we aren’t prepared enough to open up and while people are lockdown fatigued and the economy is struggling, if this goes wrong then the pain we are feeling now will be nothing like what’s coming. You are not correct, you are missing the other deaths being reported and this is why the Dept of Health and Social Services are providing is the daily deaths instead. You only have part of the numbers. I used to look at that site until I was advised not to by an expert and that data is delayed. I did my own test on it and a couple of weeks ago on one day and then looked again 4 days later and those deaths for those previous days had increased.
