OxfordVillan
Watching Spurs v Brighton. How we could do with a Sissoko in our CM. Big, strong, as well as creative. Something similar to Sissoko in CM and a lively CF would transform us imo.

villalad21
Last season, 18 pts after 19 games would take us 6 pts clear of the bottom 3. F*** depressing. Of course the season Villa get promoted it will be one of the most competitive seasons ever.
VillaChris
We massively got away with that. Everyone above us bar West Ham have 20 points at least at the halfway stage so that gives the scale of the task ahead. We really need to win one of the two up coming away games but if we play like today we'll be soundly beaten in both. Today's win was just about keeping our heads slightly above water.

Jareth Posted December 26, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted December 26, 2019 That performance may not have been pretty but it shows we are willing to fight for this - gives me belief we can scrap this out. Need some other buggers to screw up as well though....
Keyblade
Maybe Saints weren't the cakewalk we thought they were going to be. It's a 4 way battle to avoid 1 spot it seems. Bottom 2 are down imo.
VillaChris
With our GD we need another 20 points from rest of the season to be reasonably sure of staying up. Going to be a tough ask. Need to win 2-3 away and yes we will have to show some balls out there and beat some of the teams we never beat anymore like Man. United, Spurs and Arsenal. Other teams around us seem to have no issue doing it so as Useless has been saying all season we're at the stage of the season where we simply can't write off any home game bar Man. City imo. And most of the aways we'll be needing at least a point from.

If they beat us they'll fancy staying up with improved home form as they're competitive away. We really need to get the away form up and running now. Next two games will say more than today will imo. sne
24% possession 1-0 up away to Manure. Perfect no possession football, Wonder if they even use a ball in training? Edit: Foiled by a howler by Dubravka. Edited December 26, 2019 by sne

AXD
Brighton vs Bournemouth this weekend will be interesting. I expect both of them to be in the relegation battle for the remainder of the season. And maybe burnley.

useless
The last time our eighteen points wouldn't have been enough to keep us of the bottom three after nineteen games was nine seasons ago in December 2010, and this time last year we would have been six points clear of the bottom three, Burnley were in eighteenth place with only twelve points. So in that respect we're quite unlucky, but then again the traditional big clubs are losing a lot of games that you'd expect them not to, like Chesea today, and whilst our rivals have been taking advantage of that, we have not, something that needs to change.

What did you expect when Man Utd have Solskjaer in charge, Arsenal are still missing Wenger, Spurs are settling in a new manager and Chelsea have a new manager who has 3 or 4 of last season's Championship playing for them. They are all there to take points off and any team that fights will have chance to take points off them all. We should have had more points from those opponents than we have. abdulaziz1
I think this win is very important. If we could have two draws next two games then won’t be end of the world. We’re playing badly and we needed to stop the rot. Grinding wins and draws when you’re doing badly could only help being in touch with teams above.
