It's probably the negativity that comes with being a Villa fan for over 20 years but I'm waiting for the come down to earth thud. We just have to make and win the playoffs or we will be back at square 1.

Watched with some Rotherham supporters who were match sponsors for the game and ended up meting and having my photo took with Jack by the away dressing rooms then again on pitch side before the game, I wasn't expecting it at all and it was like a dream come true (even for a 41 year old  ). I asked him if he was gonna bag and he said "I hope so" in his strong brummy accent, so I am claiming an assist for etching it in his head!  

At half-time, I genuinely couldn't see a way back into the game but the second half performance was absolutely brilliant. I rated the managers performance as good, but the more I think about it that needs changing to very good! The decision to play 4-3-2 and bring on Kodjia was so so positive and so refreshing to see. Also after 60 minutes I was urging him to bring on a midfielder to shore things up, but not a thought in his head to do so (until the 88th minute?!) again, so positive.

At times in the second half, we looked like we had the extra man, and at worst looked like there was no numerical advantage. The whole team worked tirelessly and in particular the midfield 3 were so impressive. McGinn however, was a cut above. Absolutely faultless display and a catalyst to us turning the game around. A special mention to Kodjia too, who worked more in one evening than he has done all season. On his day, he is better than Abraham for me, well more natural ability. He has set the benchmark now and hopefully this performance will be the start off a personal run of good form (and goals).

If I am nit picking the negatives were Mings, who looked shaky prior to the sending off and the first half performance of the whole team left a lot to be desired, but they all made up for that and showed great character and resilience to come away with the points.

I was watching in the home end, behind the dug out I had wonderful views of the Villa faithful and the noise coming from the stands were electric. My (Ipswich Town supporting) mate said we have brilliant fans and was a little gutted that we weren't in there with you all so credit to the fans too, they helped to keep the players going!

I'm not sure many of us would be so generous if we lost one of our best.

I feel for you. As fans we are of course all used to our heroes and favourites moving on...and new ones arriving.

But I really don’t want to even contemplate this guy leaving. Never seen anything like him !

At first I thought he seemed similar to Des Bremner - amazing that they both came from Hibs ! - but ( with the rider that we are a League lower, and Des proved it over multiple seasons) he is looking like “Des Squared.”

Second Half was fine.

First half there were only a group on the right singing. I was behind the goal and it was like a morgue. I always sing but I’ve never felt as much out of place doing so as last night ! It was really disappointing given how everyone had let loose after  the Wednesday game.

I’ve only ever sat in the Trinity once, and it was like that. Second half - once we’d scored - fine.

Hoping for a Holte in full voice on Saturday !

I wouldn't say they are cynical, some very loyal supporters.....but seen many false Dawns.

You will see a Holte in full voice...no doubt....I think you will see a ground in full voice.

Haha, thanks mate! Can't see the picture, but I think I can guess which it is. We've had some great days in Brum now, but more about that later. Just loved to be there with the away fans to watch that win. 10 man down, 1 goal down, and still we came back to win it. I wonder if McGinn knows the meaning of the word "tired". Loved Jack Grealish's work before the 2nd goal. Got away from 4 rotherham-players. With a little help from Taylor. That was class. Great night. That's about as analyzing I can be right now having just come home and not got any real sleep since around 5-6 am yesterday morning.
