Popular Post John
On Saturday afternoon we welcome Middlesbrough to Villa Park. A win would take us within a point of them and it would also take us into sixth place. Who would have thought a couple of weeks ago that was possible, or that it was possible so soon? We ended Boro’s play-off hopes at Villa Park last season. They have not won a league game against us since 2008. A win will bring us a double against them this season, after our 3-0 victory at the Riverside in December. Overall, we have won 60 and have drawn 32, of the 131 league meetings that there have been between the two clubs. Another win on Saturday would add to our growing confidence and would continue our winning run. Who knows, the two clubs might even meet again in the play offs? Those play offs had looked beyond us not so long ago and they still look a way off. We don’t have to win every game now though, as had appeared likely just a couple of games ago. Derby, Bristol City and Boro themselves have unexpectedly dropped points, so we now have them in our sights. Our new target is to get 2 more points than Bristol City do from our remaining games, 3 more than Derby do and 5 more than Boro do. We play both Boro and Bristol City at home, so wins from those games would make our task easier. We also need to make sure that no club that is currently behind us, have a better end to the season than we do. A fourth successive win won’t be easy, but it is necessary. Do it for us Villa! 12

villalad21
They will park the bus. Grealish and McGinn need to be on it to open up their defense.
robby b
I felt quite optimistic before last night's game against Forest, maybe actually a bit more than I do about this Saturday's against Middlesbrough, because Middlesbrough must be sick of us, they'll be out for revenge! :s Revenge for us winning three of the last four games with them, especially 3-nil at theirs and knocking them out of the play-offs. So that might be dangerous. Come on Villa!!!
BleedClaretAndBlue
Last 5 vs. Boro 0-3 0-0 0-1 0-1 0-0 thats 5 games and they didnt score once. We had a weakened team in the cup inbetween then when we lost 2-0 but they have a mental block against us. Would explain them always signing our cast offs. Jimzk5
Is it my imagination or have they now got gestede playing for them? As ever against a pulis side if they get the ball our players will end up waiting for it to drop out the sky. Very scrappy 2-1 win.
robby b
Wow, so the last two league games with Boro at Villa Park were draws, and the last three away were Villa wins!
OutByEaster? Posted March 14, 2019 Moderator Share Posted March 14, 2019 If anyone knows how to stop fun it's Tony Pulis. We must prevail, it's for the greater good. 1

They've been using Ashley Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga up top.

Yeah, seems the type to take the toys out of his kids happy meal we have to win really, draws no good at this stage with games running out and our competition having games in hand. Keep the pressure on, continue the momentum. Always fancy us when we have Jack & SJM starting.
VillaAlex
It wouldn't surprise me if we lost 1-0. It's the Villa way.
Dante_Lockhart
As long as we win I'm happy. If we can do it with flair and good play, all the better, but I'm expecting a struggle against a team out there with the intention of not conceding. Robtaylor200
We are the Fulham of last season on a roll, climbing the league and I cant see us being stopped for next 6 games IF we keep doing what we're doing - We will all be at Wembley again this year and coming home in a better mood - It was a long way back from London last year Edited March 15, 2019 by Robtaylor200

Even Middlesbrough fans agree with this deep down. We need to keep the ball on the deck and play our passing game. Borough will be launching it every chance the get and we shouldn't get drawn into a game of head tennis as I assume their team is filled with giants. Is Jedinak fit? It would be good to have him on the bench just in case we are losing the midfield battle.
Nigel Posted March 15, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted March 15, 2019 Ayalas red has been rescinded so hes free to play us. This is a waste of a post.

We need someone like Dunga, or Fat Sam, or a big name. Smith out! 2
