The luke kit was bespoke to villa. Not true. Everyone seems to be overlooking that there's a common denominator in the current kit set-up and the one for next season. My understanding from what I've seen and read is that Fanatics design and make it and the brands pay to have their logo on in the same way the sponsor does. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if that comes to an end after Year 1 with Kappa and they do it all themselves for years 2 and 3. What a **** shitshow. Im sure I read a bit where Luke was explaining his process for the designs for each kit. So all of it was just made up bs and Luke just paid to have their logo placed on the shirt? That can't be right? Poor fanatics. They deserve it much more if what you are saying is true. Junxs Posted May 23, 2019 Share Posted May 23, 2019 So essentially what we are saying is that no decent kit maker came forward last year, so we decided to promote a local boy instead (whilst Fanatics did ALL the work in the background). Seeing as I'd never even heard of Luke prior to the Aston Villa connection, I can't imagine he paid much (if anything at all) for the advertising privileges of having his brand on the kit. I don't really understand it but it is obviously their business model, so I wouldn't say poor Fanatics. What is clear is he won't be involved in the design of next years kit. I don't want to pre judge the kappa kit - but the club have turned away from luke as a designer - which in terms of what the kit looks like - probably won't be a good move. They are in the business of manufacturing and distribution, they aren't in the business of branding and advertising.
