AVFC accounts 2018

Why do you say that so assertively, Snowy?

My perception is that AVFC accounts are the legally filed accounts of the Football Club and that it wouldn't be permissible under FRS 102 to omit or exclude such significant outgoings from the legally filed accounts. You cannot ignore the major part of your expenditure or income when filing accounts. The auditors wouldn't sign them off either. The wages and net transfer and loan fees will surely be in the bundle of "operating expenses".

Furthermore, how on earth would the football club incur operating expenses on its activities of 97 million without player wages etc. being part of that?

I am not a bean counter.

Apologies, it didn't mean to be assertive. I was taking the OP as read.

You're right, I think, in terms of player wage costs (salaries & associated costs).

Edit: Unless, I'm reading it wrong looking at these accounts and last year's group accounts. I'm also trying to play some poker and watch the indoor athletics so may be a tad distracted.

Player trading and amortisation of players' contracts wouldn't be included, though. They're not on the balance sheet of Aston Villa Football Club Ltd.

At least that's what it looks like.

Our ownership, in terms of the companies that we are and the way in which they are each a facet of "Aston Villa" is a little bit complicated. I seem to remember both of our owners being on the boards of eleven or twelve companies that make up the football club.

Remember guys we will be saving almost 200k in wages come the summer per week. That’s a huge saving

Will at least go some way to offset the loss of parachute money.

I think it could well be more than that when you take into account the loan players leaving too.

They've just signed a £650m kit deal with Puma.

Our situation remains a mystery to me - how we can pass FFP is baffling. The club seem completely relaxed and calm about it, but the numbers make no sense. I guess we'll see.

I expect that we will be signing some BIG deals too in the coming months !

We are losing 288k per week in parachute payments

Losing the wages leaves us exactly where we are.

Maybe slightly worse off

Mid table championship clubs do not sign BIG deals

Future sponsors will surely have links to NSWE portfolios.

Oh, you devil you. Now I have to try to figure out what those are.

I went HSBC because they've recently moved their headquarters here, they're keen to show how 'Birmingham" they are and they've painted murals and put signs up around the place expressing their Brummie credentials - they'd be perfect shirt sponsors who could afford to help lessen our problems.

I mean, it's unlikely, but you never know.

Sponsorship seems to be one of those areas where the club has confidence that they can bring in more money.

Oh. We're not in to 'predict the wage bill' territory, are we?

We all know our club has always had issues with wages to revenue. It's no secret, we all know a lot of big earners are out of contract in the summer.

We all know the parachute payments stop.

It's obvious the drop in wages won't improve our position as its a fact we had a 15m parachute this season which we don't get next year.

We lose 288k per week next year due to no parachute payments.

What's with your tone. Someone just commented it will be about 200k? Richards, Whelan, Jedinak, Tuanzebe, Mings, Hause, Abraham, El Ghazi are out the door potentially.

We are just having a conversation and we won't be wide of the mark with our speculation about these two things.

Every year there's a 'conversation' about how our wage bill will be 'x' next year.

More often than not it's quite wide of the mark.

It's all about guesswork (not least because the actual wages of the players that people will be deducting from the wage bill aren't actually known - so it's guesses upon guesses).

Now that's fine if we're just having a chat and a punt but when we're talking about that in terms of actual figures and using that to make 'confident' predictions of what future years should be based on then it's largely a load of old tosh.

Would be pleasantly surprised if it isn't some random generic betting company.

Something like 17 or 18 teams in the Championship have this. 32Red sponsor 5...

Going for the Egyptian connection maybe CIB? Giant Egyptian bank who both Sawiris and his brother has had a lot of dealings with.
