I think he actually played right-back today, no idea if that's his normal position, Edwards looked quite promising as well on the left-wing, they're producing some good young players at the moment. Bodes well for us considering we've just taken their head of academy football, hopefuly he can help us to start attracting these type of players to our youth sides.

They have a very good youth team but a unique set up.  They sponsor Sandwell Academy high school which is just outside their ground.

They basically recruit the players from the age of ten,  help enrol them into that school and monitor/aid their progression.

It could be difficult for us to replicate that.

Just had a look on Brentford's main forum, and I can't see any mention of that. Looks like they're about to sign Bryan Mbeumo though who's another winger, they already signed one last week, possibly a replacement for Benrahma perhaps.

How about Matheus Cunha, played for Brazil in the Toulon tournament and was top goal scorer, and our French scout Olivier Monterrubio was there watching players, would know Luiz, and played with, can also play on the wing or upfront, is meant to be lighting quick.

I notice he wasn't involved today, not sure if he would count as 'big swoop' though.

I've no idea how that works to be honest. He (Matheus Cunha) wouldn't come cheap though, I'd imagine £15m plus at least. I've no idea if he's someone we'd actually want, just a guess based on the talk at the time that we needed a forward who can also play as a winger, that and the fact that our scout would have watched him at the Toulon tournament where he was leading goal-scorer (Cunha not our scout). Now Green has gone on loan, I suspect that we might go for a specialist winger and a forward, rather one player who can play both positions.

Maupay has something about him, I like that he has a nasty streak and I get the feeling that he would do anything to win and be successful. I wouldn’t mind having him playing for us.

My new first choice mega money mystery signing though is Timo Werner.

Isn't Timo Werner that hitlerjugend looking rocket polisher from the match today who was acting all tough to Grealish? Think it ended with Mings and Werner getting a yellow card

Yep. Im sure they can have a laugh about it after Werner sets up Grealish for the winner next week. Boys will be boys eh. 😂
