Was just about to ask if anyone knew what the highest spend was in one PL window.

Are we not 4th based on the above?

As someone who doesn’t know either of these latest players and wants to have a general sense of how good they are -

If option A was us buying either Belotti OR Berardi and option B was us buying Maupay AND Benrahma, what would people prefer?

Fee agreed this morning though I think

If we don't buy Maupay it will be for a reason because he would crawl over hot coals to be here above anyone else, and £17.5 or £20m is probably right and we can afford it. It will be for 'footballing reasons' if we don't, i.e. he doesn't suit the system or offer the flexibility.

And when he develops into a really very, very good PL striker we will know that despite this he wouldn't have flourished under our current project.

At least this is how I will comfort myself.

I suppose the key difference is those other teams bought 4-5 players. We’ve signed 12!

Belotti, just for the shear statement it makes. Unfortunately I don't think that will happen. Going from spending an average of 12m per player to 70-80m on 1 player seems completely out of keeping with the rest of the business we have done this window.

That's assuming we have to pay all the add ons which would make it really fantastic value.
