I think the plan came first and the recruitment matched it.  I reckon Dean is happy as **** with the squad we've built.

They've trusted Deano, Suso and Purslow with all that money. Would have been easy for them to decide it was too big a risk to give a manager unaccustomed to spending big and no Prem experience that kind of money. I think we have to give NSWE massive credit.

It's only relevant because of the cost, though.  If we had only spent £30m at this moment, there would be zero "doing a Fulham" comparisons.

But surely the cost is irrelevant if a club can afford it, it’s seems to be a ‘you’ll struggle to get them to gel, and that’s a waste of money’ sort of attitude in the media but if a club (Norwich) are trying to integrate 11 new players that’ll be just as hard as us integrating 9-10 players... the only difference is cost.

Holloway is a knob. He’s put the boot into us all the time we were on the slide. Now someone has spelt out to him that we’re on the way up and he’s all over us like a nasty rash.

There are plenty of others that have kicked us when we were down who will be fawning all over the gaff now they think the good times are back.

There’s an old saying, “Success has many fathers, but failure is always a bastard.” Feck ‘em, we may forgive but we should never forget.

He can't even formulate a sentence and is a shit manager, yet seems to be in the media a lot? Is it pity?

I'm quietly optimistic about this season. Yes we're newly promoted and we'd have to consider survival a success, but I look at the league and the bottom third is straight trash. Put them in the Championships last year and we wouldn't fear them, so why should we when we're in the PL now and strengthened significantly? Also a lot of people seem to be sleeping on Leicester. They're my pick to break into the top 6 this season.

I agree with all of this. I've said I think there's 10 teams I think we'll finish above and Leicester isn't one of them. I wanted Rodgers or Smith as manager after Bruce but I'm delighted we went with Smith but Leicester have a very decent team. It's weird they were cup specialist league also rans under that stupid goblin

They aren't replacing their first team, though, they're adding to a side that has won the Championship.

(Also, have they seriously signed that many players?  I thought it was maybe 4 with 2 of them on loan!).

Conte wants Lukaku, the club are unlikely to pay the asking price though as they think it's a bit much. Inter are looking for an experienced goal scorer and a young striker with potential.

From what I have been told this afternoon; We should see an outcome to what happens soon regarding this.

Player has been mulling over current bids and has been holding out to see who else comes forward with bids before making a descision on future.

Gerard Lopez, the Lille president, has said that as many as eight clubs want Leao's signature and reports state the young striker will make up his mind whether to stay or leave Lille over the weekend.

He could anywhere, he might even stay put for all we know? (I doubt it though) but he could go to any of those 4 clubs - providing no one else tables, prepares, launches, lays the foundations or slams in  a bid within this time.

Few stories about today that if the club can't get him Lukaku, then Conte wants Duvan Zapata instead of Leao.... who knows?! Would be a massive coup for us to get Leao, personally I don't see it happening.

If we sign a top class keeper and striker, poss cover/rotation for Douglas too then it's been the best transfer window I can remember. It's true we left ourselves needed to totally rebuild after letting 14 go, so we HAD to try and sign 3/4 of a team and some cover too. That said I think the way we've gone about it and who we've got says a lot about us finally having the off field shit sorted. No-one is taking the piss over fees or crazy terms etc. After a long, long, time we have people at the club to make other teams take us seriously and not think of us as easy pickings.

Why do football fans get so upset about negative opinions whether it’s from a pundit or from the bloke down the pub?  Liverpool fans are the worst for it, the conversation normally ends ‘worry about your own team’!

It’s just opinions.

I suppose if they’re squad players it is a bit different, but it just annoys me how the media like to twist stuff to make a story. Same as it ever was...

Yeah, they really have signed 11 players according to the PL transfer website!

Linked to Harry Wilson for £15m on SSN just now. Can't see it happening. Newcastle also after him apparently.

Would be great business, going to go onto to be a very decent player. Still would rather Benrahma though

i have no problem with pundit or anyone else's opinion if they knew the facts before making said opinion. take big sam for example...he clearly had no idea how many players we'd lost before saying we'd signed too many.

for me, i get upset at the principle that he got paid to deliver these opinions purely because he was once in the game but is too **** lazy to spend 2 minutes obtaining just a few facts and understanding why we may have signed so many players. and that's the case with so many pundits now. they do zero research but still feel that they have the right to chime in with there 2 pennies worth. at least the female pundits still feel that they have something to prove and therefore make sure they're well clued up on the subject/team they're talking about before opening their mouths hence why they're totally outshining their male counterparts.

so for the upcoming seasons squad, who will be our "homegrown"?, 8 needed isnt it?

25 total players:

Homegrown:

Steer, Mings, Hause, Taylor, Lansbury, Hourihane, Grealish, Targett, Konsa, Chester, Hogan, Bree (assume they all qualify?, so we have 12/8?)

Other (non HG):

Kalinic, Nyland, Engels, Guilbert, Elmo, Douglas Luiz, Nakamba, McGinn, Hassan, Jota, Wesley, El Ghazi, Kodjia.

thats 25 players total?, obviously the u21 players dont need to be registered.

What about when he said that Ross McCormack is so good that he could play with Messi and Ronaldo? Or predicted that we'd get relegated from the Championship in our first season down there?

I don't know about Ross McCormack but he said we'd finish around 12th.

We finished 11th.

Atleast Brucie got us there or thereabouts then.
