You can never truly legislate for injuries, but surely you can’t not buy players in case they get injured. He may be a balaban or a Benteke but to say we overpaid before he kicked a ball is not fair. We won’t know the value of our signings for at least a season that’s why I’m not to fussed about the reported individual price tags. It’s what we get overall for our outlay in terms of squad strengthening and depth that really matters. For all we know with Wesley we might only be be paying the full £22m if he meets certain criteria like getting a cap for Brazil, scoring so many goals, helping us to surivive, I remember MysteryMan on here saying that we only paid £12m for Darren Bent, and the rest was made up of clauses. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Wolves got away with essentially the same 11 and a few fringe players. I don't think we're a million miles apart. Patricio 8 CS in 37 and cost them points with some absolute howlers. The CS were against junk teams mostly so I rate Steer 6 CS in 16 highly relatively. I watched Heaton come back from injury last season. He's shit. If we can take off and have a really good season with a top 10 finish and maybe 1 or 2 England call ups then we might look back and see that we have actually paid peanuts for this squad and it could be worth 10 fold.. John Posted July 9, 2019 Share Posted July 9, 2019 I think our interest in Heaton, may lead to Stoke being slightly more realistic in the fee they want from us for Butland.
