I hope we're done with that for a long time now Bruce is gone. Don't want another turkey like Hogan for the sake of a body

If this was 12 months ago with Xia, Wyness, Round & Bruce then 100% I would not feel comfortable right now with the dross that is about to unfold in front our our very eyes.

He's gonna spank £59m on aging shite signings with lengthy contracts and other names from the little black book, £1m to HMRC after Keith called them and setup a re-payment plan with a minimum payment arrangement, - the other £100m is being used to build Tony's theme Park.

God, if only we had lost that final and it was Fulham that came up instead. It's going to be a long season and no suprise to see us back in the Championship come 19/20 season...

What could have been...

and yet here we are on June 22nd 2019, already signed 5 players for approx £50m so far and we're getting restless we ain't signing them quick enough.. :D  - all under the calming guidance of Edens, Sawiris, Purslow and Smith.

A few transfers have been agreed and announced, but most of the big leagues in Europe haven't even officially opened their transfer windows yet, pretty sure the German, Italian, French, and Spanish ones don't open until July 1st for example.

Our window closes on August 9th.

Most other leagues close their window on the 2nd of September

Serie A on August 18th

We have less time left to get stuff done than clubs in other countries.

People just need to chill.

All players are either still on their holidays or playing in the U21, African or South American tournaments. Championship teams only report back for initial tests on Monday.

A lot of work to be done but I’m sure we have been progressing what we can. Things will only start motoring for championship targets from next week onwards. will have to wait longer if other targets are playing in the wider tournaments.

Hysterical bunch at times aren’t we ... chillax !

Look at the list of signings so far and as you will see we have been the busiest so far .. it’s only June 22nd for Christ sake some of the hyperbole on here is hilarious but also worrying. Players are either on holiday or still playing plenty of time. If we have still only signed 4 players in 3 weeks or so time I’ll be fretting a tad.

To be fair nobody is saying we are going down. They are saying IF we do not sign a certain number of player we will go down.

I don’t see any panic, hysteria or hyperbole on this forum just yet.

Someone on twitter has posted a picture of themselves with Dean Smith on a flight to Portugal, so looks like our manager is only just now going away for a break. Although I guess signings could still happen without his presence.

There are probably a number of factors why we haven’t signed as many players as fans want.

Any selling club is going to demand the highest price for any player we are interested on right now. They know we have a number of positions to fill and they know we have premier league money and wealthy owners.Very little transfer business is being done now as most people are on holiday.

If we want transfers to go through now we are going to be paying over the odds.I think we should be patient ,the fees suggested for the Brentford players seem inflated .We should see is anybody else interested .?If not, 20 million seems too high.

Buying any player is an important decision and reckless spending in the past has weakened usMcormac ,Lansbury Tsisbola ,Hogan etc

These fees and so called £20 million sums are pure myth and fantasy made up by click bait sites, poor lazy journalism, fans forums and the like, all clubs work on the "undisclosed amount" scenario, and the true price is only revealed when the clubs yearly accounts are published in 12-18  months time, Brentford have never quoted a price for players in any press releases, it is all guesswork by journalist, the only words the club has ever said regarding players have been  "It will take a large amount of money to prize this player away",  what is a large amount of money?, a majority of clubs take the same stance, and does it really matter, we don't have to foot the bill personally.

So your guess is as good as mine, and that's all it is, us fans are just an impatient bunch who go through this every transfer window, just be patient, it will all come out in the wash, it's the same thing year in year out, at least is more exciting than visiting the mother-in-law 😱

Very sensible post... I think people need to probably understand that we are currently playing poker in the transfer market. Everyone in football know we need bodies in and therefore will try and milk us whilst they can, unless we play the market well which I have confidence we will. As also mentioned it's still very early in the summer and most business won't start for another couple of weeks proper. I also think the leftfield signings will all come first, which will then strengthen our position when bargaining with teams over stupid fees being demanded for the players we most want. Personally I'm glad we are appearing more calculated and less visible with our business.

The great thing about arriving in this division with half a squad is that we're almost a blank page - we'll sign more players than anyone this summer, because we'll have to. We've got money and we've got good people to spend it - it's going to be an amazing next four or five weeks I reckon.

The good people to spend it is the most important point.

People keep suggesting that because this and that player, manager or CEO is on holiday deals can’t get done. This is 2019, it’s almost impossible to not be contactable. Only SHA are still using carrier pigeon. If they can find someone who can write the message of course.

That did cross my mind as well, but wasn't sure if Smith would flying out to Portugal as part of the negotiations.

Why not? Bruce was speeding down the motorway trying to convince that lad from Bristol to join us 😂

He has already taken a fairly lengthy break to the US (no issue with that in my view although some always seem to have a problem with it) so if he really is heading abroad I don’t very much it’s a holiday.

Statistics are skewing this - we should be top of the list with 95% of our squad (listed above) under contract for 2 years or more.

No other PL team is as high as our %.
