Copenhagen & Malmo

I'm going up to Malmo in May, and will have about 4 days in these 2 cities. Any must dos or recommendations on where to eat/drink?

We plan on sleeping in Malmo since it's cheaper, and taking the tram across to Copenhagen.

Copenhagen is pretty good. Nice place to walk around and the area around the Royal Palace is very nice. You can do a boat trip quite cheaply and can take your own beers on board which is a plus. Christiania is an interesting place to spend a couple of hours if you're into that kind of thing. Museum of Copenhagen is free if I remember correctly and is in one of the main squares near Tivoli Gardens and many restaurants with worldly cuisines. It's generally a very pleasant, walkable place.

The Little Mermaid sculpture is exactly that though, absolutely tiny which I didn't expect at the time.

We did it in reverse and caught the train to Malmo for a day trip. A lot smaller but also considerably cheaper and easy to navigate. I remember really enjoying Malmo Castle and having a nice meal in Stortorget. Lots of parks there too with classic looking windmills etc. Check out the Turning Torso also.

Malmo is a lot smaller than Copenhagen and I think its maybe 10 euros 1 way to get the train across the bridge so maybe not that much cheaper after all.

both cities are easy to navigate on foot or bike though both places will be expensive especially around the touristy areas think I paid 8 euros for a beer at one place

Another vote for just wander around and see what you can find ... from memory I got a bus to the park by the mermaid and managed to walk around for about an hour (lost) before i found the right path that took me to the mermaid  , but I was there in Feb , cold and with deep snow and i may have just been a numpty   ..

there was a  church you can go in and climb up the tower and get a decent view back of the bridge to Malmo , might be called Church of the Saviour ? worth a look anyway

Nyhavn  district is worth a visit , on the canal front and lots of brightly coloured houses , cafes and what not

if you have an inner 12 year old in you , then around the back of Copenhagen station is a pub called the Spunk Bar  ... made me snigger far more than it should have  :) ..  and despite the name it does also serve beer

I enjoyed Copenhagen, thought Malmo wasn't particularly interesting. It's fine but doubt you'd want to spend much more than a day there so travelling over to Copenhagen and pretending you're in a Scandi drama might be the order of the day.

It's almost 100 euro difference in hotel price between malmo and copenhagen. Copenhagen is really expensive for Hotels.

It rivals Dublin in hotel prices.

Check out Danhostel in Copenhagen. Its a hostel (biggest in Europe) but they do private rooms and private bathrooms. I've stayed in more basic hotels than this place. Price when I stayed was reasonable and in a decent location (just down from Tivoli Gardens).

Sounds like we will just bit the bullet and stay in Copenhagen. The brewery tour sounds like fun. My wife loves beer so I am sure she will enjoy it.

Copenhagen seems like a hidden gem in europe. I hadn't heard much about it, and it seems to have a lot of interesting sites, and fun things to do!

Think the price puts people off but its a lovely place and if go summer the weather can be awesome.

People are fun too and very open and speak perfect English

I was in Copenhagen for a wedding a few years ago, memories are hazy.

Every single woman in that city is a 10.

They show porn on almost every channel on telly after 10pm.

It's small enough to walk around.

The little mermaid is little.

Don't do a boat trip hungover.

It's cowing expensive.

I can't guarantee all of these facts are actually factual.

I know both cities well. More than 1 day in Malmö is a bit much. There is also a border control for everyone entering Sweden and it can take time.

Have you looked at hotels between the airport and the city? Along the railway somewhere. I would suggest that you look at the Tårnby area.
