Yes he’s good tackler doesn’t mean he’s a good defender .Robbie savage had good tackling stats, being aware of what’s around you when to press when to hold your positions is also a part of defending, both Liverpool’s goals came from one or more of our players being caught out of position, this is something that Guilbert is regularly out of hence the amazing last ditch tackles he’s doesn’t win the ball higher up the pitch he wins it when he’s tracking back trying to make up for his mistake

The only stats that I have, but I would say they prove your comment wrong.

Provided he isn't sold or loaned out (or suffer a serious injury) I still think Guilbert will end up having played more minutes this season for us than Elmo when the season ends.

I do not trust him.

Watching him against Stoke was horrific.

Not reflective of his performances for us. It was his 2nd game since last season ended and his 4th game in 6 months due to injury. He was hardly up to speed. He was our 3rd highest rated player last season and we only one game without him.

And whilst cash has been good offensively I have serious concerns about him defensively. He looked poor against Sheffield put in a challenge that could have got him sent off against Fulham and was easily knocked aside/over multiple times by Jota and Robertson against Liverpool. Against Leicester I would like to see cash and guilbert both play with cash as the right winger. I think against them you have to nullify them when maddison. Doubles up on the left wing with Barnes and castagne has been outstanding.

Please don't use whoscored's strengths and weaknesses of a player. They can be a bit odd. You'd be much better off doing the grunt work and sifting through the stats yourself.

Yeh, let’s break up a winning team and play players out of position. It’s not like we’ve just beat the best team in the world 7-2 or anything.

Ah yes the player who played RW before last season is being out of position being played RW? I just think Leicester are far more effective down the left (when Mane is out) and I would favour going for more solidity defensively and rely on cash's crossing ability going forward down the right. To stop Leicester you can't be overloaded.

I see your point but Trezeguet works fairly hard in front of Cash and I don’t think you change the team at the moment.

Every player deserves to keep their place after the Liverpool performance and I say this as someone who really doesn’t rate Trezeguet.

He just isn't good enough. Seems a brilliant guy but all the overlaps and fist pumping in the world won't make him a PL fullback now I think.

Too wild. Too poor on the ball. Too naive.

I thought he would be a good option and a good project in the 2nd season but Smith has draw his conclusions and I am happy with that.

He needs to keep his mouth shut now, knuckle down, work his bollocks off and ensure that if Cash has a loss in form or an injury he is ready to step up and due to what he has done in training the manager rates him ahead of Elmo.

Cash has the mobility and athleticism to be an overlapping and defensive full back. Freddie just needs to work hard and not waste energy giving interviews. There’s a good player in there but not for the level we are aiming towards. He’s a good backup choice but at his age, I’m not sure how he will develop beyond his levels now.

it is so shame to see this because, for me i think he should still ahead Elmo as 2nd choice right back but i can see the reason Elmo ahead him due his experience and versatility which could save the bench better this prompt to him 2nd choice due bench reason i think, rather than solo specialist full back, also tell him 2nd choice would be encourage to challenge Cash. th

Best option is Sent Loan and return once Elmo release as his contract expires in summer. I think best sent him to Championship as they more games and winger all different type to learn the defend games and he would return to us with massive improvement due experience and more games in English games.

Love him and brilliant overlap enjoy watch this way and good tackle, passionate about us, and talk about us make feel proud about our club, which make me more like him

Hey-boo be fair on him despite about love him, as got thick skin to negative comment about him - he need learn defensive positional and style English to make him better player in future and will well transition to other league in abroad or with us it would be good for his developed and future, love him - my favourite right back even like him more that Cash, I know that Cash he is far better player and must starter and he will grown on me as Guilbert. I am sure he will turn high quality right back for us or other club.

Not just his experience and versatility.

He comes across an extremely important character in the dressing room.

pity for guilbert, i think its a mistake him saying "they werent honest with me" though, calling out the coaching team never ends well.

Personally, i think he should be backup left back and right back tho, i honestly think elmo is only backup becuase they see kesler coming through, know elmo's contract expires at the end of this season, and thought they could manage until next season, whilst also getting guilberts wages off the books.

i assume there is zero chance of him leaving now, cant see him going to the championship?
