We did the deal for him in Jan, at which point we were around 10th (?) in the Championship.. highly doubtful we were even contemplating being a Premier League team at this point back then. Whilst I'm sure they're not going to sign players they didn't think could be good enough, I have my reservations about him being thrown in the deep end. It's over, you just have to accept it. I say he will never leave us, and he never will. But, he's got a job to do, too. Where he's going, we can't follow. Bloody hell is he a full back? he's nearly on the opposition's goal line most of the time. Hopefully he will fit in with the way Deano sets up. His switching of the play from deep and wing to wing could be a major asset with El Ghazi and Targett. He can tackle, play in tight spots and also bomb down the line and attack himself. Agreed, one thing I didn't like last season was how much space, backing off certain players did, cost us some goals it did and silly ones at that too. It looks like but the majority of full backs these days need to have the attributes of wing backs regardless of whether they're in a back 4 or 5. They're expected to attack like a winger and somehow be covering the opposition's winger at the same time. The thought of all that running makes me feel sick.
