Website Get French Football News have said Villa will sign the full back for €5m, with €1.5m in add ons to a four-and-a-half year contract. They claim the 24-year-old will then be loaned back to Caen with a view to a full transfer in the summer. Guilbert spent his youth career with his hometown club AS Valognes before moving to Caen where he spent time in the reserves. After a season at Cherbourg he moved to Bordeaux before returning to Stade Michel d’Ornano. The link first emerged earlier this month when the player’s agent suggested an offer had been made. Guilbert has played 19 games for the Ligue 1 strugglers and has provided two assists. The majority of those games have come at right back although he has also played centre half and spent one match at left full back.
