Trying to play like he’s the next Franz Beckenbauer, he’s not! Needs to focus on what he does best, no nonsense defending.

Exactly. Well said.

We have a defender winning the physical battles, always seems to be in the right spot and then put the ball on his feet and he calmly pulls off a Cruyff turn when under pressure to retain possession. This team has some issues, namely the midfield being far to easy to play through at times, but Ming's isn't it.

Nah his ability on the ball is a vital part of our play.  The problem is he doesnt want to hoof it but then has no faith in the ability of Taylor either.  Something needs to give at left back while Targett is out of the team.

His form has dropped off a bit and strangely coincides with his England call up. After that he was very shaky against Palace putting in a poor display, wasn't good against Arsenal and was shaky yesterday.

I mostly agree and have to say the criticism of him on the ball seems a bit strange to me as it's one of his best attributes really.

BUT I'm not sure re: physical battles. At least serially anyway. Have to say it's one part of his game that is surprisingly lacking given how physically gifted he is, he's often beaten in the air by strikers far shorter than him, much less specialists like Burnley.

I was sat by an elderly gent yesterday and whenever Mings had the ball at the back he was terrified, it was quite funny. "Ohhhhh woaaa. Oh no". Haha, I suppose we're not used to our centre backs taking so many chances as Mings does.

At some point this season, probably more than once, we're going to lose the ball in a disastrous area.

Man City did against Norwich so I hope we're sensible with what we're trying to do. That goes for the press at the other end as well, we need to standoff them until they're 30 yards out or they'll cut us open from the front.

Big game needed from the big man and his partner in crime today! Stop Pukki, stop Norwich.

You know the shirt is awful, when a bloke with the physique of a greek god still can't pull off wearing those shoulders.

Getting shakier as time goes by. The partnership with Engles is not looking as strong as it once was and we were all over the place at the back in the first 20-30 minutes.

I'm a big fan of Konsa and I think he will be in the side soon, not saying for Mings, perhaps Engles (and more likely Engles).

Far to casual for the goal, don't know what he was thinking, some good moments and some bad ones from him today, needs to cut out those silly mistakes if he ever actually wants to start for England though and take his game to the next level,

My God. That was a shocking error.

If Engels get's back fit i would consider dropping Mings for Konsa. Mistakes like this should get punished.

He's needed a bit of a rocket up his bum since his England call up - he's the big alpha and I get that feeling that sometimes his ego tells him he doesn't need to try - this'll be a great help in reminding him that he does and 5-0 up with a few minutes to go is the perfect time to learn a lesson.

that mis-kick/pass to heaton at the end was a hospital ball.

can only assume he played well the other 89 minutes though, as we didnt concede a "proper" goal :P

Better to make the unfocused error when the result is unaffected. Hopefully it will be a reminder to Mings to stay strong for the 90.

How did he play? I was reading the Norwich forum and they seem to think he was very good, but I only watched the last 10 min or so, so I only caught his idiotic backpass.

To be honest, it might be a slight blessing in disguise. He's been good, but very arrogant for many matches now. At some point he would **** up and fortunately it happened when we were 5-0 up. Maybe he can get some humility now and stop being a total cowboy.

Ah, that'll be today then. Cut that trash out.

Next time make sure it's at 5-0 up again though please Tyrone.
