Good comeback, bad result overall

That was a strange game, and an ultimately disappointing result.

The first 45 was genuinely appalling. Defensively frail, creating nothing, and tragic individual errors. We looked flat, and most of the players didn't seem like they had any interest. Chester kept us in it with a remarkable clearance and his  goal.

The second half, though, wow, we grew in to that game, and it was all Villa. Loved the subs, loved the energy of the players, and  even our poor players did a decent job. Taylor especially deserves some praise for some  important challenges and clearances. I'll be the first to say I've been calling for him to **** off for months, but he had a good second half.

It's always a lot more promising having a good second half after a poor first half rather than the opposite. I just hope  we continue that in to the next game. Ultimately though, 1 win in 8 isn't good enough. I'd pretty much given up on the playoffs during the first half. There's still hope, but we can't keep dropping points like this.

We've gone back to being so poor that i just never expect us to win anymore, only surprising thing is we managed to get a point.

DS gets a bit of criticism lately, but how we perform looks down to the confidence of the players.

Defence still very poor. Possession and creative play (players offering options) has really gone off the boil. Giving the ball away cheaply.

We look very average at the moment, individuals need to step up.

Smith isn’t the man to take this club forwards.

Good to get a point, but the fact of the matter is we are the sort of side that "Villa are 2-0 down at home to Hull" is a normal statement. So much work to do.

Bad result. Had to be a win. Abysmal first half once again. Bolasie, Taylor and Bjarnason in particular were abysmal. Better second half, but you can't expect a team to score 3 every game. Defence has to improve, right now I'm not sure one of the back 5 is good enough.

Giving Chester some time off to fix his injury would be a start.

Could have been worse, but a decent comeback against the in-form team in the league.

Good comeback, shame we couldn’t get a winner. Improvement, at least.

Thought Green was positive. Too many players lacking quality and/or confidence overall.

Made a massive difference when we pushed a midfielder further forward to get into the box, unfortunately that player was Bjarnason. We need someone in that role though, even when Grealish is injured as otherwise Abraham is completely isolated.

very good second half that was ultimately nullified by the complete shitshow that was the first half. disappointing overall. more of second half for the rest of the season please. at least we appeared to give a crap and take it to the opposing team.

Well, we finally got the reaction that should have happened at haf time in the Swansea game

Better late than never, should have won it really second half. Need more McGinn's, Taylor played very well second half at times, Green bright but raw some bad decisions, the switch to 4-4-2 gives us another option as we made chances that way too. We need to hope that's an end to the bullshit like the nervy first half when they shat themselves again.

We aren't going to get playoffs, if we do we aren't good enough to go up, we will get destroyed week in week out.

This second half showed, we shouldn't be playing Bolasie and Adomah. One is on loan on 70k and contributes very little, the other, his legs went a long while ago and simply isn't good enough. Green came on and showed spark, start him, bring in O'Hare. 

Hopefully we bring in a few players so we can bed them in and maybe like Norwich next season we can kick on.
