Booing isn't racist, monkey chanting is. What I heard last night was mostly monkey chanting, it was clear and audible. The cameras even showed a group of them doing it.

Whistling during national anthems is disrespectful but shouldn't be punished in my view. England have been charged with this and not having enough stewards. It's almost as if UEFA are trying to even it out. I didn't see any security escorting these guy's out last night, they just seemed to walk out in their own. I also didn't see that many Bulgarian stewards

Of course booing is not racist, but.....

Two wrongs don't make a right......its inevitable when issues like this get aired.....if you take the law in to your own hands, it is not surprising you will get drawn in with the neanderthals.

of course we will get criticised for singing over their national anthem.....is that so surprising?....even though they did the same.

If someone robs your house and subsequently you rob theirs are you within the law.....are you ****?

Come on guys.......der

My point has been missed, not surprising really. I wasn't saying two wrong makes a right, I was simply making the point that UEFA bring desperate to come across as fair have missed the point totally. Singing over a national anthem is not the same as monkey chanting or nazi salutes.

What annoyed me the most about last night was the assumption people were doing nazi salutes. How do we know they weren't bird watchers or plane spotters? We can't just jump to conclusions and assume these people are racist - the Nazi salute is very similar to pointing and only the individuals involved know for sure the intent. If an English fan pointed at a plane would we call them racist?

They’re smiling too and having a lovely time - how can anyone think this is racism going on? I’m pretty sure I read that England fans were sat in the upper tiers. This is more likely to be the traditional Bulgaria salute for “hello” as they point to where their guests are seated.

Can’t believe there’s a fuss about all of this! Aren’t we able to point upwards anymore? Will anyone risk raising their arm in the presence of Gareth Southgate ever again? World has gone mad.

And you are right.

but when criticising others as we have done ....for the chants, you have to be whiter than white to make the point......sadly we wasn't.

As soon as I heard us singing over their anthem, i thought any complaints we have will be watered down......we have to learn......The pen is mightier than the sword.

The problem is on the terraces tribalism is the name of the game ,sadly...and it can come back and bite you.

Proving that is impossible, unless its accompanied by something else.

Not impossible, just more difficult. If they're only booing certain players, and have no footballing (or any other) reasons for booing...it's not hard to deduce why.

Is this a wind up?

When did tribalism start in football? 60s. Its always gone on as long back as I can remember. Never any excuse for monkey chants but I do agree our fans our fully aware of the problems that they have in eastern European countries regarding race so they need to show respect for their anthem.

Bulgaria manager who said "Bulgaria has no issue with racism" before the game said after the game that he "didnt hear anything" at all during the game and anyway, the england fans "were whistling and making loud noises too". Word removed.

Can we ridicule him for the closet racist nazi sympathiser that he blatantly is. Scum.

you are right.....but we are not dealing with intelligent individuals.

They will see it as we did wrong they can do wrong and vice versa.

any normal person will know there is no comparison other than disrespectful.......The Nazi Salute and chanting is quite something else.

I find it ironic non of them actually look white. Someone needs to tell them Hitler would never have accepted them!

He didn't like Slavs very much in general.  At the end of the day they've turned up pretty much solely to give abuse to black footballers, but they've witnessed their team get stuffed 6-0 at home with several black footballers playing excellently.  Hopefully some of them will take that as a lesson in itself before the punishments even get handed out.

Good on Haringay.

I agree with Darren Bent's view that teams should be banned from competitions. Hit them where it hurts. English clubs being banned in the 80's for the Heysel disaster (extreme example) messed up Everton's whole history for example. They were good enough to dominate Europe in that era. Instead they had to settle with being also-rans for the next 30 years.
